Worth the time with local guides

This is a fantastic option to see the sites. Felix was a great driver who provided a lot of information about the area of Oaxaca in general, and was patient with our questions. Our guide at Mont Alban was exceptional. He knew so much more information than other guides that were there, and again, he also answered lots of questions and focused on areas that we were interested in. Our guide in Teotitlan was a young teenager who took so much pride in his family's and his work in textiles, and did an amazing presentation. The lunch at the Mezcal distillery was incredible and fresh, and super informative (and a beautiful, relaxing landscape!) We ended the day at Hierve el agua, and even though it was getting late, we did not feel rushed. This tour was worth every penny!

Monte Alban and Boil the Water Tour

A spectacular experience. Jesus accompanied us on the tour to Mount Alban and boils water and we had an amazing time. I recommend to visit and get to know Oaxaca and have a great time (especially with Jesus).

    Incredible cultural experience

We had incredible, unique experiences with Antonio and Felix during our two full day tours. The sites were incredible, tour guides were knowledgeable and each of the artisans we visited were so gracious and welcoming. Oaxaca Conmigo Tours understands and respects the communities it brings visitors to, helps support traditions, artisans and communities, and is very professional in all regards. Antonio even helped us secure transportation to the airport! Definitely take a tour with them if you visit Oaxaca!

Response from the operator: Muchas Gracias Maestra Denise! Felix says hello and let us tell you that we actually had a great time with you and Daniel. We appreciate when our customers actually appreciate our culture, traditions and the hard work of our people. There are 72 families behind the Oaxaca Conmigo Family and they always are happy to welcome you, show and share their work at their homes. Gracias de nuevo, say hello to Daniel and please, come back anytime you want!

    Oaxaca experience.

This tour was absolutely amazing — the perfect blend of history, culture, craft, and nature. We started at Monte Albán, where our guide, Jesus, brought the ancient Zapotec city to life with fascinating stories and deep knowledge about its temples, carvings, and incredible panoramic views over Oaxaca Valley. Walking among those ruins felt like stepping back in time. Next, we visited a family-run textile workshop, where we saw how natural dyes are made from plants and insects, and how intricate patterns are handwoven on traditional looms. It was beautiful to see how the family utilizes what nature provides to create such great products. From there, we stopped for lunch which was a feast — a homemade indigenous meal that felt so authentic and generous, full of flavors that represented the region’s heart and soul. Finally, we ended the day at Hierve el Agua, surrounded by surreal petrified waterfalls and sweeping mountain views. It was the perfect place to relax, take photos, and soak in everything we had experienced. Overall, this tour was incredibly well organized and full of heart. It gave me a deeper appreciation for Oaxaca’s culture, people, and traditions. I can’t recommend it enough.

    Good vibes and great experience!

Everything was amazing!!! Our driver Felix was on time and so very kind and informative! We initially had a different trip booked but the team accommodated a change in activities which we very much appreciated. When we got to Monte Albán Tony was our guide and he was so knowledgeable on it. Sharing so much background it really helped embrace the culture! Hierve el agua was my favorite! The views were immaculate!! Felix also took us to eat some traditional Oaxacan food. Afterward we took a tour to see how mezcal was made and got to try it! We then went to a textile shop it was amazing to hear the process of how the fabric is made! Overall great experience!!! Do not hesitate to book with them they treat you like family!

Response from the operator: Because Oaxaca es tu Casa! Thank you amigos for these beautiful words that encourage us to keep working to create the best experiences for you. Thanks for appreciate our Culture and the amazing work of the artisans, weavers and mezcal distillers, there is definately so much love behind all the art. Felix is happy to say hello and has great memories of your trip! God bless amigos and come back anytime you want to Oaxaca!

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oaxaca City.

How much does Exclusive: Monte Albán, Hierve el agua, Teotitlán & Mezcal Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $322 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oaxaca City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Exclusive: Monte Albán, Hierve el agua, Teotitlán & Mezcal Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oaxaca City is not rushed.

Is Exclusive: Monte Albán, Hierve el agua, Teotitlán & Mezcal Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Oaxaca City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Exclusive: Monte Albán, Hierve el agua, Teotitlán & Mezcal Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Exclusive: Monte Albán, Hierve el agua, Teotitlán & Mezcal Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Exclusive: Monte Albán, Hierve el agua, Teotitlán & Mezcal Tour?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oaxaca City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oaxaca City and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oaxaca City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Oaxaca City?

    +

On Outty we rank every Oaxaca City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include AUTHENTIC OAXACA CULTURAL FOOD TOUR, eat like a local., Hierve el Agua 2.5 hours, Mitla, Tule, Rugs and Mezcal for a Day, Traditional Oaxaqueña Cooking with Grandma's Recipes. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Oaxaca City?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Oaxaca City?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
