A Healthy Happy Wellness Adventure Day
This tour was a commitment—but in the end, it was absolutely worth it. We booked with Mictlán Tours because of their excellent reviews and organization, and that choice was confirmed by our guide’s care and communication from start to finish. We waited several years before adding Tolantongo to our Mexico City itinerary because it’s a big day: about four hours outside the city each way. Our tour van picked us up a little after 5 a.m. and dropped us off around 9 p.m. Sooooo…about 16 hours. We don’t recommend a 16-hour tour lightly, so when we say this one was worth it, we mean it. The first highlight is the park itself. We had never been to natural hot springs, so the entire experience was pretty jaw-dropping. The photos you usually see are of the thermal pools stacked along the hillside, but those are only a small part of the park—and, for us, not even the best part. On the La Gloria side of the river, warm pools, waterfalls and caves are tucked into the forest. That was our favorite area. Exploring the trails and caves, soaking in the warm water, and spending the day surrounded by mountains and greenery made the long journey worthwhile. It was one of those travel days that combined adventure, movement and time in nature in the best possible way. If Tolantongo were closer, we would absolutely go back. The other highlight was our guide, Esteban. He is on a very short list of the best guides we’ve ever had. He was completely committed to making sure we had everything we needed and felt safe, with a special ability to always be right there without ever seeming intrusive. He was also incredibly helpful with our gluten-free dietary needs. At the restaurants, he immediately started asking questions about ingredients and food preparation so we could eat safely. That kind of support makes an enormous difference when traveling with dietary restrictions. Esteban has a light, easy manner that put us at ease immediately—and kept us that way all day. Did we mention the tour was 16 hours? If Tolantongo piques your interest, go. Book with Mictlán Tours, and if you get Esteban as your guide, consider that a bonus. It was a long day. An adventurous day. A very good day. And definitely a Healthy Happy Travel day.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience in such detail! Knowing that, after waiting years to visit Tolantongo, you felt the journey was truly worth it means so much to our entire team. We’re especially happy to hear that La Gloria became a favorite. It’s exactly why we’re so passionate about including this beautiful, less-explored side of the region in our experience. And Esteban will be absolutely delighted to read your words. His care, attentiveness, and commitment to making guests feel safe and comfortable are such an important part of what we strive for. We’re particularly glad he was able to help navigate your gluten-free dietary needs and make sure you could enjoy the food with confidence. Those details matter. Thank you for trusting Mictlan Tours with such a big day of your Mexico City trip. Shoutout to Healthy Happy Travels! We hope this won’t be your last adventure with us. Until next time!

"I was a skeptic now I'm a believer"
Well I usually don't book experience travels because I think I can go out and find my own cheaper faster way without all the gimmicks. This time I was proven wrong, touche! Few days before our trip we got notified through WhatsApp with the rest of the group from the tour which I was pretty nice. The categorized the tour into three segments which was pretty thoughtful and one of them was food requirements and needs. We were picked up as mentioned right on time by two dashing man who we're well inform and educated about the tour we were just about to embark. Everything was wonderful throughout the time we spent at the parks up to the incident where my friend slightly injured himself and needed the assistance of some medical Care. Both the driver and the tour guide were on it guiding us and getting all the Care needed for us to proceed with our trip. We never felt like we were a burden or at least they didn't make us feel like that. When we got back to our hotel at the drop off they were kind and sweet to help us get my friend with the spring ankle back to his room. I definitely recommend this travel group and might even look into doing one more before heading back to Texas. Esteban and Sergio were the bomb! Thanks a lot fellas I truly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart what y'all did for us till next time, I'm sure sincerely Mario.
Response from the operator: Mario, thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review! It means a great deal to us, especially knowing that we were able to change your perspective on guided experiences. We're delighted that you enjoyed the organization, communication, and every part of the adventure. Most importantly, we're glad your friend received the assistance he needed. Our team believes that taking care of our guests goes far beyond the itinerary, so it means the world to know you felt supported and cared for throughout the day. We'll be sure to share your kind words with Esteban and Sergio, they'll be honored to know they made such a positive impact. We hope your friend has made a full recovery, and we'd absolutely love the opportunity to welcome you back before you head home, or on your next visit to Mexico. Until then, thank you again for your trust and recommendation.

Why this scores 77
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Exclusive Full-Day Tolantongo & La Gloria Hot Springs Adventure: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mexico City.
How much does Exclusive Full-Day Tolantongo & La Gloria Hot Springs Adventure cost?
+
Prices start at $65 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mexico City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Exclusive Full-Day Tolantongo & La Gloria Hot Springs Adventure take?
+
Plan for about 14 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mexico City is not rushed.
Is Exclusive Full-Day Tolantongo & La Gloria Hot Springs Adventure worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 31 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mexico City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Exclusive Full-Day Tolantongo & La Gloria Hot Springs Adventure?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Exclusive Full-Day Tolantongo & La Gloria Hot Springs Adventure suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 14-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Exclusive Full-Day Tolantongo & La Gloria Hot Springs Adventure?
+
Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mexico City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mexico City and add a light layer if any part of the 14-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Exclusive Full-Day Tolantongo & La Gloria Hot Springs Adventure start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mexico City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Mexico City?
+
On Outty we rank every Mexico City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Frida Kahlo VIP [Museum Tickets Included] Walk, Markets & Churros, Local Foodie Adventure CDMX: Tacos & more with Sherpa Food Tours, Mexico City Historical Centre Food Tour with 7 Tastings & Drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Mexico City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Mexico City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
