What you get

    About this experience

Sailing the shores of Tenerife's towering volcanic coastline is one relaxing experience – and with this trip, it's made even more so from the sun-drenched deck of a catamaran. In between swimming, sunbathing and soaking up the scenery, there's even a chance to see pilot whales and dolphins as they leap and frolic in their natural habitat. Cast off on this cruise from Porto Colon and you'll enjoy a different perspective on the dramatic terrain of the island. While sunning yourself and feeling a cool breeze wash over you, your captain will sail into waters known for hosting pods of dolphins and whales. With luck, you'll get to spot these magnificent creatures and learn all about them. Then, as the day heats up, we'll sail in the shadow of the island's incredible Los Gigantes cliffs before dropping anchor in Masca Bay to cool off with a swim. And to top it all off, you'll be pampered by the crew. There'll be complimentary drinks at the shaded bar and lunch on board.

    Experienced better trips

It wasn't that special; the sausage roll could have been skipped, and almost half of the passengers threw up.

    Sun, scenery and cetaceans

I’d recommend booking with Janette at the marina. We got a slight discount and she was very helpful at keeping us updated on sailings and rearranged our booking when the weather stopped the first one going on this longer trip. Views of the island including Mount Teide and los Gigantes cliffs from the water were great. The crew took time to search for sea life , however our sightings of pilot whales were only fleeting. We were advised only strong swimmers should go into the water at Masca Bay, so gave that a miss. There was a very fast, though interesting, description of the area and of marine life (may hard to follow if your English wasn’t good). Food was limited to meatballs (chicken?), rice, a bread roll and banana. Beer, sangria and some soft drinks were free flowing, but coffees and ice cream were extra. It got very cold in the offshore wind, so take some warm clothes.

If you want flowing beer, this is for you!

Booked through third party VIATOR. Not the trip I was expecting at all. Taken to a marina near Gulf del Sur (end of runway South airport) I realised that I was not on the cruise i booked as well over x30 on coach transfer! This was then doubled on boat! We anchored soon into journey but not picturesque. Lunch was not good - ultra processed chicken meatballs with very salty rice, dried bread roll and banana. I hardly ate the hot food. Drinks were bountiful and music playing which soon confirmed that I was not on a marine life watching trip but more like a party boat! Then the tacky photos of guests allowed at the ships wheel! We were also taken out into rough sea away from the coast. We did not go to Los Gigantes cliffs or Masca but instead just pottered around area between the marina and up as far as about Playa de las America’s! (Told it was not best weather near Masca. The coast view was of construction sites, airport and homeless camp set ups near to the rock called red mountain. We saw approx 3 sightings of pilot whales but no pods. From comparison to other whale watching trips, this is not in same category. I have complained to VIATOR - hopefully they will refund.

Exclusive Freebird Catamaran Whale & Dolphin to Masca From North: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tenerife.

How much does Exclusive Freebird Catamaran Whale & Dolphin to Masca From North cost?

    +

Prices start at $34 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tenerife usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Exclusive Freebird Catamaran Whale & Dolphin to Masca From North take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tenerife is not rushed.

Is Exclusive Freebird Catamaran Whale & Dolphin to Masca From North worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.3/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tenerife, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Exclusive Freebird Catamaran Whale & Dolphin to Masca From North?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Exclusive Freebird Catamaran Whale & Dolphin to Masca From North suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Exclusive Freebird Catamaran Whale & Dolphin to Masca From North?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tenerife can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tenerife and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Exclusive Freebird Catamaran Whale & Dolphin to Masca From North start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tenerife within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tenerife?

    +

On Outty we rank every Tenerife experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Whale watching & listening Eco-Catamaran Tour with Snacks &Drinks, Group Surfing Lesson at Playa de las Américas, Tenerife, 3-hour Whale and Dolphin Watching and Listening Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tenerife?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tenerife?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
