Mt Etna and Taormina
We came from Romitello,to catch the mini bus from Palermo outside restaurant 95.Very early start but we found that ok,as it was a 7am start.Parking in Palermo was good, because we have been 4 times was quite easy,we found free parking not far from the Opera house. It is a long day, when you get to Mt Etna you have to get a move on really quickly, we headed straight to the Cable car, which takes you too the pick up point for the 4 wheel drive bus then you do a guided walk too two of the craters not completely too the top as not enough time. Then back down to the carpark the whole thing just over 2hrs so brilliant but rushed. Then onto Taormina which was a beautiful town for a walk around and lunch also would recommend which was roughly 2 1/2hrs.Then back on the mini bus back to Palermo

Disappointments
The bus driver and host were exceptional and I would give them 5 stars. Mount Etna was disappointment. We only saw the older caters that had grass grown in them. The gondola was shut down and were unable to get to the top of the valcanco to see the lava. Viator should have told us the gondola was shut down and we would have picked a different day. As far as I am concerned this was a waste of money.

Good experience
The tour operators were very helpful and organized. Overall, they communicated the days itinerary well. Mount. Etna was interesting. There are a number of options to do there, including a quad ride, as well as hiking around the craters. Do be aware there is a cost to hike on these trails – five euro. The amphitheater was interesting to see. Time is short so I suggest packing a luncheon eating it at the amphitheater. If you go to a restaurant first, you might be a little pressured for time.

There is no talking or pointing out historical land marks . Driver was very cautious and kept his eyes on the road. Very professional

It is a bit of a drive...
It is a bit of a drive and if you have any motion sickness, sit in a seat where you can see the road be careful of other passengers that might annoy you, but the driver was amazing and a great guy

Why this scores 44
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Etna And Taormina Full Day Excursion from Palermo: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Palermo.
How much does Etna And Taormina Full Day Excursion from Palermo cost?
+
Prices start at $114 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Palermo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Etna And Taormina Full Day Excursion from Palermo take?
+
Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Palermo is not rushed.
Is Etna And Taormina Full Day Excursion from Palermo worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 44 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.6/5 across 41 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Palermo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Etna And Taormina Full Day Excursion from Palermo?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Etna And Taormina Full Day Excursion from Palermo suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 12-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Etna And Taormina Full Day Excursion from Palermo?
+
Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Palermo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Palermo and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Etna And Taormina Full Day Excursion from Palermo start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Palermo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Palermo?
+
On Outty we rank every Palermo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Palermo Pizza & Gelato Cooking Class with Meal & Wine, Palermo Food Tour: 10+ Tastings of Arancini, Cannoli, Wine & More, Palermo Sicilian Street Food Tour: Small Group by Do Eat Better. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Palermo?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Palermo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
