1. Amalienborg

   Here at Amalienborg Palace we will see the heart of the Danish monarchy. The complex consists of four identical palaces around an octagonal square and is the official residence of the Danish royal family. In the center of the square is the equestrian statue of King Frederick V of Denmark, who promoted the construction of this elegant neighborhood in Rococo style during the 18th century. From here you also get one of the most famous views of the city: * To one side, the huge dome of Frederik’s Church, known as the Marble Church; * towards the other, the port and the modern opera of Copenhagen Opera House.

2. Copenhagen Opera House

   In front of the harbour we will see the impressive Copenhagen Opera House, one of the most modern and emblematic buildings in Denmark. Opened in 2005 and located directly opposite the Royal Palace of Amalienborg, it symbolizes the union between tradition and contemporary Danish architecture. During the stop we will learn about its construction, its enormous cost and the famous Danish architect who designed it. We’ll also find out why its location sparked debate in the royal family and among the city’s inhabitants. In addition to enjoying one of the best panoramic views of the port, we will understand how Copenhagen managed to transform itself into a modern capital without losing its history or Scandinavian identity.

3. Royal Danish Theatre Play House

   Upon arriving at the Playhouse and Papirøen area we will discover one of the most modern and vibrant areas of Copenhagen, where contemporary architecture, Danish design and waterside living are perfectly combined. We will see the Royal Danish Playhouse, the elegant national theatre built in front of the harbour, famous for its minimalist architecture and incredible canal views. We will also learn about the history of Papirøen, the former “Paper Island”, which went from an industrial sector to become one of the most innovative and modern spaces in the city. During this part of the tour we will talk about Copenhagen’s urban transformation, Danish design culture and how the city repurposes old industrial spaces to create sustainable, modern and vibrant areas. In addition, we will enjoy some of the best panoramic views of the port, the Opera House and the seafront of the Danish capital.

4. Nyhavn

   In Nyhavn we delve into the most iconic image of Copenhagen: the famous canal bordered by 17th century colored houses, old port warehouses and historic ships moored along the pier. Here we will learn about the history of the old trading port, when sailors from all over the world arrived in Denmark, and discover how this place went from being a noisy and port area to becoming the touristic and most photographed heart of the city. We will also talk about the life of the writer Hans Christian Andersen, who lived in different houses of Nyhavn and wrote some of his most famous stories in this same environment. Today Nyhavn is the perfect place to feel the atmosphere of Copenhagen: outdoor cafes, music, traditional boats and a vibrant atmosphere that mixes history, color and local life.

5. Copenhagen King's New Square

   In Kongens Nytorv we arrive at one of the most important and elegant squares in Copenhagen, considered the great meeting point between the historic city and the modern center. Surrounded by iconic buildings such as the Royal Danish Theatre, ancient palaces and historic hotels, this square has for centuries been a symbol of the power, culture and social life of the capital. Here we will learn how this area was transformed from a real 17th century space to become the vibrant heart of the city, where shopping avenues, pedestrian streets and some of Copenhagen’s most exclusive sites meet. We will also understand why Kongens Nytorv is a key point in any city tour, connecting directly to Nyhavn, Strøget and the main historic quarters.

6. St. Nicolaj Church

   In the Church of St. Nicholas we find one of the most interesting spaces of historical Copenhagen, where the ancient and the modern coexist in a very particular way. This building, originally a 13th century church, was partially destroyed by fire and rebuilt several times throughout history. Today it does not serve a religious function, but has been transformed into a cultural centre and exhibition space. During the visit we will learn about its medieval history, its evolution over the centuries and how Copenhagen has been able to reuse its historic buildings to give them new uses without losing its identity. In addition, we will see how this place connects with the development of the old city center and with the current cultural life of the Danish capital.

7. Christiansborg Slot

8. Magstraede

   In Magstræde we enter one of the oldest and most charming streets in Copenhagen, a real trip to the city's past. Here we will see colorful low houses, irregular facades and original cobblestones that have been preserved for centuries, in one of the few areas that survived the great fires and urban transformations. During the tour we will learn about what life was like in medieval Copenhagen, when this street was part of the port and craft district, full of merchants, sailors and small workshops. Today Magstræde is a unique corner that shows the most authentic and ancient face of the city, where you can still feel the original historical atmosphere of Copenhagen.

9. Gammeltorv

   We finish the tour in Gammel Torv, one of Copenhagen’s oldest squares, loaded with history and surrounded by buildings reflecting centuries of urban life in the heart of the city. Before arriving, we will pass Nytorv, a twin square that for centuries served as a scene for markets, public announcements and even executions in the Middle Ages, making it a key place to understand the Danish capital’s most intense past. In Gammel Torv we will see the elegant Charity Fountain, symbol of the reconstruction of the city after the great fires, and talk about how this space evolved from medieval center to become a quiet meeting point within the modern center. It is the perfect closure of the tour: a place where history, architecture and daily life mix, allowing us to understand the transformation of Copenhagen over the centuries.
