No autobus
The playa and Avery were good but the bus ride was outrageous 90 minutes going over 2 hours coming home Take a boat. It may be more money but there is less traffic lol
Response from the operator: Thanks for your honest feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the beach and Aviary. We understand the bus ride was longer than expected — traffic in the area can be unpredictable. Taking a boat is definitely a great alternative for a faster and more scenic return, and we appreciate you sharing that tip! We’ll keep working to improve all parts of the experience. Hope to see you again soon! – Backpackers team

Worst tour I have ever been on
Title sums up the experience. The tour was advertised as 0600-1400. I showed up at 0545, only to be told at 0615 that the tour was going to be delayed until 0900. Everyone else in my tour was told this the morning of as well. 0900 rolls around, and I ask them they if were able to pick me up still, and they said yes 0945-1000, another delay. At 1015 they tell me they are outside and I check and they are not, after some back and forth they tell me they actually can’t pick me up since the “bus” can’t fit down the small streets and it is actually the tour guide just meeting me and walking with me to the meet up point, so I offer to just meet the to it guide there. Once I meet the tour guide, I am crammed into the front seat inbetween the driver and tour guide sitting in the front passenger seat, no “comfortable van with AC” as advertised. We did not leave until 1030. The driver was texting and calling on his phone the entire time while weaving in an out of traffic. The aviary was actually nice and very enjoyable. We then went to the beach but after waiting 40 minutes we finally asked where our food was and they brought it out immediately, no idea how long it was sitting there. Once at Mambo, every chair we tried to sit at we were told we had to pay for, and everyone was always told different prices. There was no “welcome drink” or “fruit salad” as advertised. We finally left early because nobody was enjoying sitting in the restaurant as you could not sit anywhere else for free. When we left the beach they could not contact the driver so we were left to wait in the dirty parking lot for 20 minutes. On the drive back again the driver was speaking and texting on his phone the entire drive down the highway while out tour guide was vaping in the van with the windows open. Despite coming back significantly later then advertised (1700 instead of 1400, the driver still pulled over so the tour guide could go use the bank on the way home.) there was no proper hotel pick up or drop off as advertised, the driver dropped me off outside of the walled historical centre leaving me to cross the busy highway during rush hour by myself as a small women while the sun was setting and it was getting dark. I did not make it home until 1830, 4.5 hours later then advertised. Everyone in my group was also upset by this as we all intended to be back by 1400 and had made plans for the rest of the day. Our “tour guide” also did not explain a single thing to us and simply acted as a chauffeur and admitted he barely spoke English (luckily I could also speak Spanish) To summarize this was the biggest waste of time and money, and you are better off booking anything else. I am not sure if this is the standard by the company as a whole, or we were just unfortunate with the driver and tour guide we got that day.
Response from the operator: que pena con usted esperamos nos disculpe por tan mal experiencia y estaremos mejorando todo este tipo de inconvenientes

A Perfect Combination!
This was the best combinación of activities I've had in a long time!! The beach and a drink 1 hour, the Aviary for 2 hours, lunch back at the beach, and more beach time 1.5 hours. Perfect!

Eco Plan National Aviary and Lunch in Playa Mambo Beach Barú: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cartagena.
How much does Eco Plan National Aviary and Lunch in Playa Mambo Beach Barú cost?
+
Prices start at $79 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cartagena usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Eco Plan National Aviary and Lunch in Playa Mambo Beach Barú take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cartagena is not rushed.
Is Eco Plan National Aviary and Lunch in Playa Mambo Beach Barú worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 58 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cartagena, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Eco Plan National Aviary and Lunch in Playa Mambo Beach Barú?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Eco Plan National Aviary and Lunch in Playa Mambo Beach Barú suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Eco Plan National Aviary and Lunch in Playa Mambo Beach Barú?
+
Around 20 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cartagena can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cartagena and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Eco Plan National Aviary and Lunch in Playa Mambo Beach Barú start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cartagena within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cartagena?
+
On Outty we rank every Cartagena experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Historic Center & Getsemaní Shared Tour in Cartagena, Cartagena VIP Boat Tour: Rosario Islands & Snorkel, Cartagena Antigua & Barrio Getsemani group with audio system. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cartagena?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cartagena?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
