Totally unexpected delight.
Chichen itza was unbelievable. Who knew we would be at the center of the earth on our vacation. And the cenote afterwards was jaw-dropping. Just wish we had more time there.

Marco + Amigo Tours = SO Good!
Marco was a fantastic tour guide - so knowledgeable, engaging, & friendly. If you can book with him - do it! He clearly cares so much about the region, has done much research, & he shared amazing details through his wonderful storytelling. Amigo Tours was very well organized - we got picked up for the sunrise tour at our hotel in Cancun in a large air-conditioned with a toilet. It was about 4 hours each way & the drive was safe. Chichen Itza was breathtaking - we spent 2 hours there and could've spent 2 days - we learned the vast history of the place & some of the mysteries that exist. The best part of my whole trip to the Yucatan Peninsula! Since we went in the hot summer, I highly recommend going early - you get there before it gets too hot & before most of the crowds. I also recommend wearing long-sleeve shirt, pants, hats, even carrying an umbrella as there are few trees to provide shade. The cenote we visited was Cenote XCajum and it was refreshing & fun. You can get changed in locker rooms, then rinse off with the outdoor showers, before descending the steps to jump into the water. The food was buffet style at the lunch & a mixture of meat, breads, fruits, & veggies. And beverages for sale. Bring pesos for the cenote - that's the only way to pay for lockers to store your stuff while you swim. Plus tips for staff & the gift shop.

Marco was very attentive and knowledgeable and had a clear passion and love for the work he does. We felt we had a very unique and special experience and we thank Marco for that immensely! Everything was beautiful and the weather, though hot, was manageable and worth it! We would definitely recommend the Amigo tour service and if you have a chance to have Marco, do it!
