Arguably the biggest festival of India if not the world. The city gets charged up & does not go to sleep for 7 days. It transcends communities. Everyone enjoys in the bonhomie and high spirits. The streets are lit up and decorated. The pandals come out with literally eye popping creativity that floor you with their scale, accuracy and innovation from a huge spectrum of themes. You marvel at the idol makers who have created the different murtis.Into this festival we shall venture in. NOT from any AC car (spending 70% of the time stalled in traffic). This is not a tour for the weak heart but for people who would be ready to go into the crowd surge and see the festival close up and learn the stories, nuances and enjoy as a local would. We would keep you safe as long as you listen to us. Pandal names are indicative. We cannot cover all in a single tour but on a pick & choose basis. Please communicate with us before booking a tour. We will have different start times including night tours.

    Durga Puja Carnival of zkolkata

Wonderful treat for your eyes and festival of food as well. A lifetime experience. Be ready to walk through thousands of people, because at least two to three millions will be on the streets of Kolkata, visiting wonderful creations by artists and artisans, and tasting excitingly delicious street foods. This is the most gorgeous Carnival on earth.

Immersion in every sense of the word

Immersion in every sense of the word – visited over 20 Pandals, some big, some small – great variety and experience This tour was brilliant, my guide was knowledgeable and patient, not only explaining the pujas but also covering off interesting items we passed by as we walked. We started and ended the tour with a bus ride, to get from the central meeting place to the main puja area… Yes the bus is squashy, but is gender split so it is actually feels nice and safe and is a fabulous local’s experience. We walked, and walked and walked until I declared I had enough which meant my tour lasted 5 hours! – I reckon Kaushik Chatterjee could have kept walking for hours more if I had wanted to. Highly recommended

    +

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kolkata?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kolkata?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
