Great Day Tour of Kolkata
Muzaffar was a great guide. He adjusted the tour based on what I wanted to see. It was like an friend taking you around their home town. Probably mos importantly, we stopped a a great local restaurant for lunch. I also never ran out of water which was awesome because it was a very hot day.
Response from the operator: Dear Mr. Jonathan Forester, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a wonderful review! It was an absolute pleasure showing you around Kolkata. I’m so glad you enjoyed our lunch stop! Showing off our incredible local culinary culture is always a highlight for me. And of course, staying hydrated is a must during our hot days—I'm glad those extra bottles of water kept you comfortable throughout the journey. Thank you again for choosing Tour de Kolkata. I hope your travels bring you back to our vibrant city someday! Best regards, Muzaffar khan

Terrific Experience
Muzzafar Khan, our guide and the owner of the tour company, is refreshing forthcoming with his opinions on aspects of culture and keeps it real, not just the version you'd spoon feed to tourists. He's crystal clear in his explanations of the sites on the tour and their relation to the history of the city and india. Most important, we found he displays the warmth and engagement of a host, not just a hired guide working for the day. The driver was pleasant and professional, navigating the sometimes challenging traffic with ease, and even accommodated some changes we wanted to the route and end point of the tour. Two highlights of the tour for us were the House of Mother Teresa (The Sisters of Charity) and the Indian Coffee House at the former Albert Hall, a center of Calcutta intellectual life and the Indian Independence movement. We enjoyed very much visiting and learning about these places with Mr. Khan. If you go to Kolkata and want the private tour experience, look no further.
Response from the operator: Dear Mr. Terry Wong, Thank you so much for such a thoughtful and detailed review. It was a true pleasure hosting you! I firmly believe that to truly understand Kolkata, one must look beyond the surface. I’m glad you appreciated our 'real' conversations about the culture and history; it’s always a highlight for me when guests are eager to dive into the deeper narratives that shaped the city and the independence movement. We always strive to be flexible because we want the day to feel like a journey between friends, not just a fixed itinerary. I am also so pleased that the Sisters of Charity and the Indian Coffee House left such an impression—they truly represent the soul and the intellect of Kolkata. Thank you for your high recommendation. It would be an honor to welcome you back anytime. We look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you again soon. Take care & stay blessed! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Private Tour of Kolkata with Tour De Kolkata
I had an amazing experience with Tour De Kolkata, and I can’t recommend them enough. Muzaffar Khan, who is both the owner and my guide, gave me a full private tour of Kolkata that exceeded all expectations. I flew in from Delhi, and Muzaffar was waiting for me right at the exit—welcoming me warmly and immediately offering a hot tea, which was such a thoughtful touch. From the start, both Muzaffar and the driver were respectful, friendly, and professional. Muzaffar’s knowledge, passion, and patience truly set him apart. He explained everything in detail, always making sure I understood the history and meaning behind what we were seeing. He carefully planned the itinerary so we were able to visit many places and really explore this incredible old city while learning so much along the way. What made the tour especially unique was Muzaffar’s artistic vision—he gave me a perspective of Kolkata that I don’t think any other guide could match. It was not just a tour, but a meaningful experience. To top it off, when he dropped me back at the airport, Muzaffar had even prepared a small gift for me, which was such a kind gesture and made the experience even more memorable. If you’re considering a tour in Kolkata, I highly recommend Tour De Kolkata. Trust me—you’ll thank me later! Bo (NY) — January 2026

Why this scores 88
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Explore Kolkata: Private 1-Day and 2-Day Tour Options: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kolkata.
How much does Explore Kolkata: Private 1-Day and 2-Day Tour Options cost?
+
Prices start at $36 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kolkata usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Explore Kolkata: Private 1-Day and 2-Day Tour Options take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kolkata is not rushed.
Is Explore Kolkata: Private 1-Day and 2-Day Tour Options worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 88 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 91 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kolkata, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Explore Kolkata: Private 1-Day and 2-Day Tour Options?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Explore Kolkata: Private 1-Day and 2-Day Tour Options suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 10. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 8-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Explore Kolkata: Private 1-Day and 2-Day Tour Options?
+
Around 32 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kolkata can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kolkata and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Explore Kolkata: Private 1-Day and 2-Day Tour Options start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kolkata within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kolkata?
+
On Outty we rank every Kolkata experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cultural Confluence of Kolkata - Culture Kaleidoscope Tour, Bengali Nights Kolkata Food Tour with 13+ Tastings, Magic Hour Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kolkata?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kolkata?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
