What you get

    About this experience

Escape the crowds and discover a totally different part of the city walls! Explore the secret tunnels of the fort Minčeta with your local guide and learn about 15th century warfare and how Dubrovnik protected from its enemies. Did you know that the very same tunnels that you'll see on this tour were actually used as bomb shelters only thirty years ago? Listen to your tour guide's personal account of the 1991 war in Croatia and how it was like to live in a city under siege. We'll also take you to a fascinating underground museum of the old foundry where you'll hear about how cannons were made centuries ago. Not just that, you'll go where few people ever go - along the western bulwark and all the way down to Pile gate, high above and away from the crowds! You'll visit fort Bokar, a 15th century masterpiece of military architecture and hear about the political struggles of the old Dubrovnik Republic. Book this tour if you want a truly unique, and non-touristy experience of Dubrovnik!

Private tour was the highlight of our trip - ask for Marko.

We had Marko - a local born and raised inside the city walls- as our guide. He is passionate and knowledgeable about Dubrovniks history and made it fun by asking us questions. We booked locally and there were just two of us - I can’t recommend more. Was our highlight here in Dubrovnik - and included the archeological dig going on inside and underneath the walls.

Response from the operator: Thank you! We're glad that you enjoyed our Minčeta Tower Secret Tunnels Tour - it really is a hidden gem, still undiscovered yet offering an amazing section of the walls to discover. Thanks again for discovering it with us! Kind regards, Maria Dubrovnik Local Guides

    Dubrovnik with children

This was our third tour with Marko and once again we loved it. First two tours we did as a couple and now we came back as a family. Marko kept our children's (6 and 10) focus for 2 hours, which is not easy 😮😃 Thank you!!!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much! We really appreciate you coming back for the third time - hopefully, there will be opportunity for a fourth tour as well. :) Marko Dubrovnik Local Guides

A great experience in a less known part of Dubrovnik Old Town!

We had an awesome experience with a great guide leading us through a newly interpreted part of Dubrovnik Walls which is not accessible in the standard tour. The tour was super interesting and creative, so if you want to escape the crowds and see the walls privately from the inside this tour is a must!

Response from the operator: Thank you, Matija! It's so nice to see that you enjoyed our Minčeta Tower Secret Tunnels Tour - see you again some time! Marko Dubrovnik Local Guides

Complete your exploration of Dubrovnik's walls with this tour!

If you've climbed the walls of Dubrovnik, you may think you've seen it all. Rest assured, you have not and the only way to see inside is to take this tour. Our guide Marco spent two hours leading my husband and me UNDER and THROUGH the walls, while telling us about Dubrovnik's fascinating military history. And did I mention the hidden basketball court? We are real history/military nerds but anyone would enjoy this tour. Come prepared for serious walking.

Response from the operator: Thank you! Minčeta tower's secret tunnels really are an interesting, hidden part of the walls and I'm glad you enjoyed the tour - see you again some time! Marko Dubrovnik Local Guides

Dubrovnik Walls: Secret Tunnels of Minčeta Tower & Fort Bokar: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Dubrovnik.

How much does Dubrovnik Walls: Secret Tunnels of Minčeta Tower & Fort Bokar cost?

    +

Prices start at $59 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Dubrovnik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Dubrovnik Walls: Secret Tunnels of Minčeta Tower & Fort Bokar take?

    +

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Dubrovnik is not rushed.

Is Dubrovnik Walls: Secret Tunnels of Minčeta Tower & Fort Bokar worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Dubrovnik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Dubrovnik Walls: Secret Tunnels of Minčeta Tower & Fort Bokar?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Dubrovnik Walls: Secret Tunnels of Minčeta Tower & Fort Bokar suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Dubrovnik Walls: Secret Tunnels of Minčeta Tower & Fort Bokar?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Dubrovnik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Dubrovnik and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Dubrovnik Walls: Secret Tunnels of Minčeta Tower & Fort Bokar start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Dubrovnik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Dubrovnik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Dubrovnik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Dubrovnik: Game of Thrones Walking Tour, Dubrovnik: 7 Caves & Blue Cave Speedboat Tour (4h), Panorama Zipline Experience in Dubrovnik. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Dubrovnik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Dubrovnik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
