What you get

    About this experience

Discover the Irish whiskey scene on this fun sampling tour through Dublin City over one afternoon. This tour includes private travel for you and your friends with pick up at your hotel. A Whiskey Specialist Host accompanies you throughout. Maybe you like Bourbon , or Scotch or Japanese, and now while in Dublin, you want to discover Irish whiskey - this is the tour for you! The distillery visits are a mix of private/bespoke and shared (not-private) experiences. Our objective is to cut the repetition! Your Host 'fills in the gaps' along the way. We spend some time in the magical Liberties neighbourhood of Dublin, the onetime whiskey and beer capital of the world! We'll shake up some whiskey cocktails at Roe & Co and we'll talk whiskey production at Teelings. We'll also visit the home of the big one - Jameson. We enjoy a very special cask draw experience here. You will try some rare 18 year old Jameson cask strength. Suitably scheduled tour - after lunch/before dinner. Cheers!

    Our wonderful tour with you

we had a wonderful tour of various whiskey distilleries with you at the beginning of June. We still remember it very fondly and took a closer look at the Irish national drink through your suggestions. I wish you all the best and remain with warm greetings from Cologne

From Novice to Explorer with a good Map

Looking for a bit of Dublin geography, history and a whole lot of fun whiskey knowledge and tasting? Also while being effortlessly moved from distillery to distillery? This is the way to go. As spirits appreciators but Irish Whiskey novices this was the perfect way to start in style. I came away with some knowledge of whiskey history in Ireland - America’s involvement in its downfall - and most importantly what to ask for to get the kind I like! Already had good talks with bartenders about my ever expanding options. And as a bonus Michael was able to provide pointers for some excellent dining options for further destinations later in our trip. A special experience for certain.

Response from the operator: Dear Margaret, thank you so much for taking the time to write this brilliant review! It is much appreciated. It was such a pleasure meeting you a few weeks back, hope you have great memories of Ireland! Thanks and best wishes, John

If you want a truly special experience, book now.

If you’re looking for more than a tour—if you’re looking for an authentic Irish experience—John is your guide. We spent a wonderful day with him exploring the Guinness Storehouse and enjoying a whiskey tasting at Pearse Lyons Distillery, but what made the experience truly memorable was John himself. As we traveled through Dublin, he brought the city to life with stories of its history, politics, churches, neighborhoods, and, of course, its relationship with alcohol. His insights into the Guinness family—their commitment to philanthropy, their impact on Dublin, and their deep roots in the Liberties—added a richness to the experience that no self-guided tour could ever provide. The Guinness Storehouse was fantastic, and the views from the Gravity Bar were spectacular, but the real highlight was sharing the day with such a gracious, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind Irish gentleman. At Pearse Lyons Distillery, John continued to weave together fascinating stories—from the remarkable life of Pearse Lyons himself to the beautifully restored church that now houses the distillery. It was a history lesson, cultural experience, and whiskey tasting all rolled into one. Whether you’re a lover of Guinness, Irish whiskey, Irish history, or simply great company, John delivers an experience that is personal, insightful, and unforgettable. He took wonderful care of us from beginning to end, and we genuinely enjoyed every moment spent in his company. Thank you, John, for helping us see Dublin through your eyes. ☘️❤️☘️

Response from the operator: Hi Tina, wow - that is so kind of you to leave such a detailed review. I really appreciate that very much Tina. So funny that we bumped into each other in Seans Bar at the end of your trip , I was glad to see that you and Herb and your friends had a great trip overall. It was such a joy meeting you both, the nicest people! Please give my best to Herb. Best wishes, John

    Exceptional Private Experience!

If you want a deeply personalized, world-class journey through Irish whiskey, this is the only tour you should book. This was the third private tour Whiskey Island has taken us on: John is incredible—personable, deeply knowledgeable, and able to tailor the day perfectly to our pace. We visited three distinct distilleries, and the private format allowed us to skip the crowds and dive straight into the history and craft. Even as returning guests, we walked away with a massively expanded knowledge of whiskey, learning fascinating new details about the distillation processes and regional flavor profiles. The VIP treatment, seamless logistics, and depth of expertise made this the highlight of our time in Dublin. Whether it is your first time or your fifth, this private tour is worth every single penny. We will absolutely be back and do another Whiskey Island private tour.

Response from the operator: Dear Annette, I can't thank you enough for spending leaving this amazing review. I really appreciate it. Such a pleasure to welcome you back on your and it was great to meet Rob also. Hopefully we'll see you again ! But for now thank you - a valued friend of Whiskey Island!

Dublin's Distillery Trail - Cocktails, Cask Draws & Craft Whiskey: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Dublin.

How much does Dublin's Distillery Trail - Cocktails, Cask Draws & Craft Whiskey cost?

    +

Prices start at $199 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Dublin usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Dublin's Distillery Trail - Cocktails, Cask Draws & Craft Whiskey take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Dublin is not rushed.

Is Dublin's Distillery Trail - Cocktails, Cask Draws & Craft Whiskey worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 42 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Dublin, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Dublin's Distillery Trail - Cocktails, Cask Draws & Craft Whiskey?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Dublin's Distillery Trail - Cocktails, Cask Draws & Craft Whiskey suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Dublin's Distillery Trail - Cocktails, Cask Draws & Craft Whiskey?

    +

Around 15 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Dublin can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Dublin and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Dublin's Distillery Trail - Cocktails, Cask Draws & Craft Whiskey start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Dublin within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Dublin?

    +

On Outty we rank every Dublin experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Dublin to Cliffs of Moher, including Wild Atlantic Way and Galway, Dublin Highlights and Hidden Gems Guided Walking Tour, The Little Museum of Dublin Famous Guided Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Dublin?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Dublin?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
