About this experience
I've attended theatre shows weekly for 10 years+ & haven't discovered anything that comes close to the incredible spirit found in local theater. I'll take you right to the heart of this intimate scene. We'll meet in front of the theater, where I'll share with you the history of that venue. Then we'll attend a show that I have access to for a much cheaper price than normal (you also benefit from that discounted price by 20%-50% off), then we'll discuss the show over coffee/tea or drinks. Very few people say, 'I wish I’d stayed in and watched more TV or scrolled on my phone.' Come out and experience the magical world of live theatre and community; these are the moments you’ll treasure most. **If you're the first person to book on a particular date, you'll have the opportunity to choose the show we see! Please keep an eye out for messages from me a few days before we're set to meet.

Worth a try
I was drawn to this experience because it left the decision of choosing a play to a local that had some familiarity with the theaters and their current showings. It was worth trying and I might consider doing it again.

What A Great Night Out!!
Trusting Amanda to plan our night out was one of the best decisions I ever made! I left the details entirely up to her, from choosing the play to picking a restaurant for a post-show meal, and everything was spot on. My friend and I had an unforgettable evening with Amanda as our guide. We kicked things off with the Off-Broadway play The Big Gay Jamboree, which was hilarious! We were laughing so hard that my jaws literally hurt by the end—such a fun, lighthearted, and joyful performance. Amanda’s choice of show was perfect, and her passion for theater added so much to our enjoyment. Afterward, we strolled just a few steps (seriously, like 600 feet!) to a fantastic nearby restaurant Amanda had picked out for us. The food was phenomenal, and the cozy, convenient spot was ideal for diving into a lively discussion about the play. Amanda led the conversation with such insight and humor, making the entire night feel special and memorable. I can’t recommend Amanda and her Drama and Discourse experience enough. If you’re looking for an amazing night out in New York City that’s guaranteed to be both fun and meaningful, book a Drama and Discourse with her! It's truly a must for any theater lover.

Life-changing and excellent value for the money!
I recently saw Safety Not Guaranteed, and Mandee creates a very smooth and seamless experience. I've signed up for Drama & Discourse 10+ times over the past 2 years, and every single time, I've seen a show (and had conversations) that helped change my perspective of the world and showed me the best of NYC's theatre scene. Don't miss this!!

Discover NYC Theater Like Never Before!
I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing a theater night curated by Mandee, and it truly exceeded my expectations! Mandee's deep passion for local theater shines through every moment, from her warm greeting to the captivating show she selected for us. She shared fascinating insights about the venue and the local theater scene, making the experience feel incredibly special and connected. The show was outstanding, and as an added bonus we accessed it at a generously discounted price. After the show, we headed to a cozy spot nearby, where we sipped on drinks and had a lively discussion about the performance. Mandee was very easygoing making the whole experience feel like a casual evening out with friends. Whether you're a theater enthusiast or just curious, Mandee’s theater experience is impressive! I highly recommend this as a memorable way to enjoy local theater, learn a bit of history, and connect with others over an unforgettable show.

Unforgettable Theater experience with Mandee.
What can I say? My experience with Mandee was just amazing. I took my husband to this theater experience in New York, and neither of us are big theater buffs. We've only seen a few major Broadway shows, so this was really new for us. We went in with no expectations, and it turned out to be a blast. When we arrived, Mandee greeted us warmly and shared some interesting history about the venue and New York City’s theater scene . After that, we settled in to watch the play- “The Void” and it was fantastic. Once the play ended, we headed to a near by spot for drinks where we talked about the play and our interpretations of it. Mandee was so easygoing and approachable, making everyone feel relaxed and fun. Overall, it was a great experience, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone—whether you’re a theater lover or just starting out. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!
Response from the operator: Radhika, thank you! What a wonderful conversation with you and your husband. :)

Why this scores 68
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Drama and Discourse in New York Theatre: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for New York.
How much does Drama and Discourse in New York Theatre cost?
+
Prices start at $30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in New York usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Drama and Discourse in New York Theatre take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in New York is not rushed.
Is Drama and Discourse in New York Theatre worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in New York, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Drama and Discourse in New York Theatre?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Drama and Discourse in New York Theatre suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Drama and Discourse in New York Theatre?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in New York can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in New York and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Drama and Discourse in New York Theatre start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central New York within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in New York?
+
New York has more bookable experiences than any other city on Outty, and the quality spread is brutal. Observation decks are commoditised, so we score them on timed-entry reliability and sunset slots. Food tours and borough walks are where the ranking really separates operators, and the top scores in the city all come from small-group guides. On Outty we rank every New York experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Grand Canyon VIP Helicopter Tour, Half-Day Bus Tour of NYC Top Highlights, NYC Bus Tour of Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens: Art, Food & Sports. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit New York?
+
September to early November, and late April through June. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in New York?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
