A Mismanaged Mess
What should have been a lovely trip was a mismanaged mess. The bus broke down several times, stopping perilously on the motorway and on a bridge with a sheer drop. There were no stops for photos and a replacement bus did not arrive until we were on our boat trip which was cut to a third of its time. There were no snacks allowed on the bus and none provided at two tasting stops even though we had several glasses of port (so nothing to eat between 7:30 am and 2pm. The olive oil tasting was a tiny dish and bread scraps and the lunch at Santa Marta was tasteless, mass produced school dinner food and a poor reflection on Portuguese cuisine. The long trip back to Porto was marred by a faulty door on our second bus which caused the vehicle to swerve a few times (weather was windy and buffeted the vehicle). We felt very unsafe. Maria was our guide and she was excellent, the only high point of the day. All in all the trip did not live up to its promise.

Best experience in Porto area
Strongly recommend. Our guide was Milena, the best guide ever and sweetest and most helpful person. During trip she made sure to tell us everything that was outside the private mini bus window. We really connected with all people on tour thanks to her. Then we visited the first winery and had a great tour there before first tasting. Then was lunch which was 2 course meal and dessert with unlimited wine refills for an hour included in price! Then we had some time to ourselves right before going to a viewpoint, before second winary. There, a 15 minute introduction to the wines we were about to consume and after an hour long boat trip with even more wine or champagne. Must do when in Porto and make sure u ask for Milena!

The tour guide spoke English well. My problem was that I could not understand the name of the cities he was mentioning. I wish he had some written itinerary or comments of the names of the city, then it would be easier to follow

Best part of our holiday
Had the most amazing time on the tour ! Malena was an excellent guide and so friendly to be around. We tried so many amazing wines and ports and the lunch was amazing ! Also when I lost my phone , jorge was so helpful and all the staff were so incredible.

Our tour guide Igor was incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining on our bus ride throughout the Douro Valley. The bus karaoke was a highlight :) Highly recommend this tour- amazing to see the Duoro valley with its wineries and tastings, as well as the views and experiences of driving the little winding roads to our locations.
