Port and chocolate tasting
Excellence presentation and explanation by Iris of the 4 different types of Port paired with the 4 different chocolates. We have been here now 3 times to experience this wonderful opportunity of excellent port and chocolate. Iris explained it so well and was so attentive to our questions and needs. Fabulous host well done.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your feedback, it's very important to us.

Don’t miss the rooftop bar
We did the Port Tasting experience which was nice but by far the best part was the rooftop bar. Fabulous atmosphere with amazing views of the river & beyond, live DJ & stunning cocktails. We didn’t know Port based cocktails was a thing but they absolutely are & surprisingly strong considering the lower alcohol level compared to mainstream spirits. We tried several variations & even came back the next day for more. The rooftop is a real suntrap although shaded spots are available. As with most things in Portugal, prices are so much cheaper than other European cities, so definitely worth a visit.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the feedback. See you soon

Long Wait Times
The location is good with great views and in the thick of things. The wine was good, and so were the portions! However, even though it wasn’t particularly busy it took them quite a while to start the tasting. We were just sat down for a good 15-20minutes without any contact which was very odd. The staff member was very fluent in English but didn’t know much about wine. She was more tipsy than us however! Was an interesting afternoon.

Wine, food, view, kind staff - definitely recommended
We went there for a Porto Wine tasting in February. The staff was very kind, the guy explained us all the wine perfectly and in a very funny/good way. I am not a big fun of cheese, so they also adapt my plate with less cheese and more bread and oil. And view is perfect.

Delicious wine and cheese pairings, great service
Great variety of port tastings, each paired with yummy cheese! They also include some olives, nuts and cookies in case you are not a cheese fan, however each of the cheeses paired perfectly with the ports. Great service as well, Beatriz was lovely and very knowledgeable! I thought it was definitely worth it to buy the experience ahead of time, as we went at around 4:30 on a Sunday and everyone that we saw that walked up for a table was turned away due to no tables available.

Why this scores 50
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Douro Discovery Tasting: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Porto.
How much does Douro Discovery Tasting cost?
+
Prices start at $41 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Porto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Douro Discovery Tasting take?
+
Plan for about 0.8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Porto is not rushed.
Is Douro Discovery Tasting worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 50 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 47 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Porto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Douro Discovery Tasting?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Douro Discovery Tasting suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 0.8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Douro Discovery Tasting?
+
Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Porto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Porto and add a light layer if any part of the 0.8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Douro Discovery Tasting start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Porto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Porto?
+
On Outty we rank every Porto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center, Porto's #1 Walking Tour, Small Group Geres National Park Full Day with picnic from Porto. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Porto?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Porto?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
