Terrible and dangerous experience
This was booked as a small group and they had 3 groups meet for the tour. The guides were not knowledgeable, gave us no initial safety information or facts about local flora or fauna. They took us out in waters dangerous enough to trap a kayak out in the bay. They then did not communicate clearly and had all of us caught in a net. One of our group members was cut on the net and they had no safety supplies. We could not physically get back to the starting point. So we decided to beach ourselves for our safety before they had considered it We had no help getting back to the parking lot and were wandering around a campsite with no guide. Easily a 20 minute walk from our starting point. They were busy trying to get the kayak still stuck in the bay. We also saw no dolphins

Fun adventure!
Bryan and Harrisonn were great! They were very knowledgeable and helpful with the kayaks. Even if you’ve never kayaked before, they will show you how. They also kindly pause to give you a brief history about the animals or the area, which is a nice break for your arms! We were bummed not to see any dolphins close up, but one did jump far away. It was still a really fun adventure, and nice to get away from the business of the City.

Fantastic Adventure
It’s an arm workout, but the view is worth it! Our guide, Bryan, was fantastic! He talked about different parts of the water we were traveling and talked about the various animals we saw. We came here for our anniversary and got to see and learn so much!

+

+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Virginia Beach and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Virginia Beach?
+
Virginia Beach runs dolphin watching cruises, kayak trips through Back Bay, fishing charters, boardwalk bike rentals and day trips to Colonial Williamsburg and Norfolk. Seasonal dolphin presence should be stated up front, and we weight tours that do. On Outty we rank every Virginia Beach experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sunset Dolphin Kayak Tours, Small Group Dolphin Kayak Eco-Tour, Wetland Zip Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Virginia Beach?
+
May to September, with dolphin season from May to October. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Virginia Beach?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
