    August evening

Guide is amazing. We saw at least 2 dozen dolphins playing etc. they came within 100ft of paddle boat. I would highly recommend doing it.

    Worth the money

We had a great time on this tour! We didn’t see any dolphins on the way out, and for most of the way back it looked like we might not see any at all. Our guide, Zach, was determined to find some for us and genuinely seemed just as disappointed as we were that we hadn’t spotted any. Luckily, toward the very end of the tour, we finally found some dolphins! Zach even kept us out a little later than scheduled so we could spend some time watching and enjoying them, which we really appreciated. Even if we hadn’t seen any dolphins, it still would have been a great tour. Zach kept things fun, told us about the local wildlife, gave us recommendations for good places to grab lunch and dinner, and kept us laughing along the way. Thanks, Zach, for a great tour, the laughs, and for going the extra mile to make sure we got to see some dolphins! We really appreciated it and would definitely recommend this tour. I dont want to leave out the other guide Finn for jumping in the water and swimming like a dolphin to attract them lol

    AMAZING

I highly recommend this experience. The best part of our 4 day trip, Kayaking the bay with Liam And Zach! They made the experience so fun. I heard Zach is number one in the state for his impression of dolphins. Liam taught us how to call in the dolphins, and we did indeed see dolphins, it was beautiful! On our way home, as we were stuck in traffic. We decided to use the dolphin call that Liam taught us, and for sure we did see dolphins. This place is absolutely beautiful, the sunset was gorgeous...LIAM AND ZACH...SO MUCH FUN!!! Oh and educational as well.

    Great experience

It was an amazing experience. We did the 5:30 pm tour. Our tour guide Sam was very knowledgeable and friendly! We loved the experience. We did not see any dolphins but we had a great time and the sunset was just beautiful!

    Amazing guides/Saw many dolphins!

This was an amazing experience! My friends and I didn’t 5:30 tour and we had Zack and Noah as our guides. Zack was full of information and so fun. We got to see many pods of dolphins and some of them very near our kayaks. I would have done this tour multiple times if I had the time to. Couldn’t recommend this tour enough and if I’m ever back in VB it will be the first thing I book! Thanks Zack for providing a fun night for all us ladies!

Sunset Dolphin Kayak Tours: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Virginia Beach.

How much does Sunset Dolphin Kayak Tours cost?

    +

Prices start at $68 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Virginia Beach usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Sunset Dolphin Kayak Tours take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Virginia Beach is not rushed.

Is Sunset Dolphin Kayak Tours worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 85 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 508 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Virginia Beach, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sunset Dolphin Kayak Tours?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Sunset Dolphin Kayak Tours suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Sunset Dolphin Kayak Tours?

    +

Around 178 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Virginia Beach can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Virginia Beach and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sunset Dolphin Kayak Tours start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Virginia Beach within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Virginia Beach?

    +

Virginia Beach runs dolphin watching cruises, kayak trips through Back Bay, fishing charters, boardwalk bike rentals and day trips to Colonial Williamsburg and Norfolk. Seasonal dolphin presence should be stated up front, and we weight tours that do. On Outty we rank every Virginia Beach experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group Dolphin Kayak Eco-Tour, Wetland Zip Tour, Buried Beneath the Boardwalk: Neptune Ghouls and Ghost Tours. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Virginia Beach?

    +

May to September, with dolphin season from May to October. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Virginia Beach?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
