Ranwar is the original of the 24 pakhadis, or villages, that made up Bandra. When the Britishers took Bombay away from the Portuguese in 1661, they did not obtain control immediately.
20 minutes here
Unlike its fortunate brother Ranwar, this village is a far cry from the development or the artsy scene Bandra is famous for. Although it is in the vicinity of Bandstand with its posh bungalows and high-rise buildings, this village is unkempt and uncared for. The few original inhabitants of Bandra or Mumbai in general, the Koli community (Chimbaikars) can be still found here.

Bandstand Promenade
Tucked away on the tip of Bandra West are the remains of a 17th-century fort that was built by the Portuguese as a watchtower. It was strategically located to look out over Mahim Bay but now provides an excellent vantage point for viewing the landmark Bandra-Worli Sea Link bridge.

Bandra Fort
Castella de Aguada, also known as the Bandra Fort, is a fort located in Bandra, Mumbai. "Castella" is a misspelling for Portuguese "Castelo", although it seems its Portuguese builders actually called it Forte de Bandorá. It is located at Land's End in Bandra

A peek into Bandra
The tour gave me a glimpse into Bandra’s hidden gems—I was totally unaware of these places. It also gave me an idea of where to start exploring Bandra on my own. I just wish the tour had taken us deeper into the heart of Ranwar and Chimbai villages.

A lovely evening in Mumbai
Rushita was a fantastic guide and really friendly! She grew up in the area and has many stories to share about the local community, Mumbai history, and Marathi culture. Although the tour was interrupted a bit by some rain, she found a very nice cafe for us to take a rest in and sat with us to continue chatting and answer our many questions while we sat out the rain. The tour covers many aspects of the early Portugese presence in the area and ends on the coastline so you get a chance to see the sunset which is very beautiful. Highly recommend this tour.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that you had such an enjoyable evening exploring Bandra with Rushita. Her local knowledge, storytelling, and warm hospitality truly make the experience special. We’re glad she ensured you stayed comfortable despite the rain and that you could still enjoy the beautiful sunset. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we hope to welcome you again soon with Mumbai Dream Tours!

Lovely Guide, Hidden Gem location
Our guide Rushita was exceptional. Having grown up in Bandra herself, she was able to give us personal anecdotes about how the area has changed and developed in modern day, while also giving a comprehensive historical overview of Portuguese settlement and its lasting influence until today. We also really appreciated having the perspective of a young female local as a guide.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed exploring Bandra with Rushita. Her personal connection to the neighborhood, local stories, and knowledge of its history truly make the tour unique. We’re especially glad you appreciated her perspective and storytelling. Your kind words and recommendation mean a lot to us, and we hope to welcome you again soon with Mumbai Dream Tours!

interesting walk through Bandra
A recommendation when you want a (first) view of Bandra. We took this tour with Ruchita to have a first glimpse of Bandra. Now we know where to go for a drink, a nice view or a good strawl through the neighbourhood. Ruchita was very friendly, funny and was very hospitable.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We’re really happy to hear that the Bandra walking tour gave you a great first glimpse of the neighborhood and helped you discover where to go next for drinks, views, and relaxed strolls. Ruchita will be delighted to know that you enjoyed her friendly, funny, and hospitable approach — that local warmth is exactly what we aim to share through our walks. Bandra truly has many layers, and we’re glad this tour helped you feel oriented and inspired to explore more. Thank you for the recommendation, and we hope to see you again on another walk or tour soon! Warm regards, Mumbai Dream Tours Team

Why this scores 68
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Discover the Hidden Gems of Bandra on an Engaging Walking Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mumbai.
How much does Discover the Hidden Gems of Bandra on an Engaging Walking Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $3000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mumbai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Discover the Hidden Gems of Bandra on an Engaging Walking Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mumbai is not rushed.
Is Discover the Hidden Gems of Bandra on an Engaging Walking Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 49 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mumbai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Discover the Hidden Gems of Bandra on an Engaging Walking Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Discover the Hidden Gems of Bandra on an Engaging Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Discover the Hidden Gems of Bandra on an Engaging Walking Tour?
+
Around 17 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mumbai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mumbai and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Discover the Hidden Gems of Bandra on an Engaging Walking Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mumbai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Mumbai?
+
On Outty we rank every Mumbai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Elephanta Caves & Island Guided Private Tour, Dharavi Slum Tour, Mumbai: Dharavi Slum & Dhobi Ghat Laundry Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Mumbai?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Mumbai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
