Fantastic Pompeii
Very hard to differentiate between the best parts. Fantastic experience all round. Walking up Vesuvius was incredible and gave a different perspective of what happened. The only suggestion for improvement is to provide clearer advice on the lunch menu options, especially important for people with allergies to seafood.

Pompeii is great, but this tour was not well-planned
Pompeii was one of my most anticipated and favorite parts of our whole trip, but a lot of things about their tour could have been streamlined. We wasted hours of he day, with very minimal time off the bus, because of how the day was scheduled and sharing a duel-language guide. Pros: comfortable bus, sufficient stops for bathroom/coffee, the Pompeii tour itself was amazing. Cons: half our group was going to Capri, so we had to sit in very heavy Naples traffic to drop them off. The “panoramic tour of Naples” was essentially learning a bit here and there while sitting in the same traffic. It added very little of interest to the day. And after Pompeii, was had to sit in this same traffic again to pick them up. After Naples, we stopped at a coral/cameo factory. Although it was cool to see how it was done, it was all extremely expensive, unexpected, and felt very tourist-trappy. Again, wasted time I would’ve spent elsewhere. I didn’t book a Pompeii trip to buy cameos, and yet I had much more opportunity to do this than spend time around Pompeii. Communication and setting expectations in general could be much better- our guide didn’t tell us we were having a long multi-course lunch, didn’t tell the tour group where to meet the bus at multiple stops. Throughout the day, there were two languages needed for our tour group. This was fine on the bus- however in Pompeii, it meant our guide had to say everything twice before moving on. I can only imagine how much more we may have seen (Pompeii is HUGE) if we didn’t spend twice as much time on explanations as other groups. Our guide was great otherwise!

Great trip to Pompeii with lousy food
Fantastic place to visit (pompeii), great guide. Showed us the ruins and had a high level of knowledge about the place. Due to bad weather we couldnt see to much of Naples. The lunch restarount was a dissaster, try to avoid it. No charm and not much taste in the food.
Response from the operator: Dear Kind customer , We thank you for your kind and positive review even though the lunch was not satisfactory , but we are providing to contact our local supplier , thank you kind regards

Why this scores 58
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Discover the Ancient Ruins of Pompeii: Day Trip from Rome: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Pompeii.
How much does Discover the Ancient Ruins of Pompeii: Day Trip from Rome cost?
+
Prices start at $153 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Pompeii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Discover the Ancient Ruins of Pompeii: Day Trip from Rome take?
+
Plan for about 13 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Pompeii is not rushed.
Is Discover the Ancient Ruins of Pompeii: Day Trip from Rome worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 2,248 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Pompeii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Discover the Ancient Ruins of Pompeii: Day Trip from Rome?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Discover the Ancient Ruins of Pompeii: Day Trip from Rome suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 13-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Discover the Ancient Ruins of Pompeii: Day Trip from Rome?
+
Around 787 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Pompeii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Pompeii and add a light layer if any part of the 13-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Discover the Ancient Ruins of Pompeii: Day Trip from Rome start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Pompeii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Pompeii?
+
On Outty we rank every Pompeii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Minivan Trip from Rome: Pompeii Tour & Lunch in Sorrento, Skip the Line Guided Tour of Pompeii Led by an Archaeologist, Explore Pompeii with an Archaeologist. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Pompeii?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Pompeii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
