After lunch, we will ride until the magical coastline to visit Azenhas do Mar and Adraga beaches. We will continue our adventure through off-road paths to achieve the most astonishing view point of all region, a secret gem that most can't access. From there we will continue to the Roca Cape, the most western point of continental Europe, a favorite spot for many visitors. What you'll see and do

  1. Park and National Palace of Pena

This is one of the most visited palaces. Located on top of the hill and with amazing views over the region and the Moorish castle, this 19th-century palace has a lot to explore. See how the kings and queens lived in its interior and visit the exuberant gardens. This palace may be overcrowded so that it can be difficult to visit the interior, depending on the group's decision, you can visit another palace instead.

90 minutes here · Admission not included

  2. Castelo dos Mouros

The Moorish Castle is a fortress on top of a hill with amazing views over the region and the Pena Palace. It's a nice place but we would recommend to see the palaces instead.

    Pass by without stopping

  3. Sintra National Palace

One of the oldest palaces is located right in the historical center of Sintra. Depending on the group's decision about which monuments to visit you can either visit Quinta da Regaleira, Pena Palace or the historical center and its National Palace of Sintra.

    Pass by without stopping

  4. Quinta da Regaleira

Quinta da Regaleira is a nice palace and garden complex with many symbols related to the Maçonary and the Templar orders. Get lost in its Iniciatic Well and the tunnels of this esoteric place. Depending on the group's decision about which monuments to visit you can either visit this palace or the historical center and the National Palace of Sintra.

  5. A nice palace which is now a 5 Star hotel with a nice view of the Pena Palace and the Sintra region.

    Pass by without stopping

  6. Parque e Palacio de Monserrate

A beautiful neo-Arabic palace with a luxurious botanical garden. It's located about 3 Kms away from the center, being a good alternative when all the monuments in the center are crowded.

    Pass by without stopping

  7. Praia das Azenhas do Mar

A cute town built on the cliffs right above the Atlantic Ocean.

    5 minutes here

  8. Praia Grande

We will pass Praia das Maças, Praia Pequena and Praia Grande beaches on our way.

    Pass by without stopping

  9. Praia da Adraga

This is one of the most beautiful beaches of Sintra and it has an almost secret viewpoint only accessible by an off-road where we can take full advantage of our 4x4 vehicle and let the adventure begin. This is one of the most breathtaking views, amazing cliffs, the beautiful ocean, and the Roca Cape in the distance.

    5 minutes here

  10. Cabo Da Roca

This is the most western point of continental Europe, with amazing landscapes over land and sea. It's a very touristic area, that is why we prefer the previous secret spot.

    15 minutes here

  11. Boca do Inferno

This is an interesting cliff formation where the sea enters through a hole - the hell's mouth. Stop depends of available time and parking.

    15 minutes here

  12. Guincho Beach

A beautiful beach with views over the Natural Park of Sintra and Cascais.

    Pass by without stopping

  13. Centro Historico de Cascais

Cascais is a nice beach town with lovely streets and shops to wander around or to go for a swim. Enjoy Cascais as long as you wish because you can return to Lisbon from here by train (same ticket can be used on this route).

Discover Sintra and Cascais in a portuguese 4WD: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sintra.

How much does Discover Sintra and Cascais in a portuguese 4WD cost?

+

Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sintra usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Discover Sintra and Cascais in a portuguese 4WD take?

+

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sintra is not rushed.

Is Discover Sintra and Cascais in a portuguese 4WD worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 40 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sintra, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Discover Sintra and Cascais in a portuguese 4WD?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Discover Sintra and Cascais in a portuguese 4WD suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 7. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 7-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Discover Sintra and Cascais in a portuguese 4WD?

+

Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sintra can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sintra and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Discover Sintra and Cascais in a portuguese 4WD start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sintra within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Sintra?

+

On Outty we rank every Sintra experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Tour Sintra from Lisbon Palaces of Pena and Regaleira, Private Sintra Tour Palaces and Coast by Vintage Car or Jeep, Sintra Historical Jeep Adventure - Palaces & Secret Routes. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Sintra?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Sintra?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
