About this experience
Napa is home to over 500 wineries, so finding the right one for your palate can be a challenge! Allow me to introduce you to a few of the best kept secrets in the valley. While everyone knows the big names along Highway 29, I will take you to two small, family owned, artisanal cellars that most people (even locals!) have never heard of. We'll talk sustainable farming (the difference between industrial, organic, and biodynamic), wild yeast fermentation, traditional winemaking practices, and the best part, talking about and tasting the wines themselves. In between our tastings (each visit should last between 90-120 minutes), we'll lunch at a renowned Napa Valley restaurant, where we can enjoy a few wines as they were intended: alongside a meal. Tours are limited to 4 guests to allows for an intimate and personalized experience. If you don't see the day or time that fits your schedule, feel free to reach out and we can find something that works for you!

Amazing day
We were referred to this experience by our hotel and it was the highlight of our time in Napa! Elizabeth was so delightful and welcoming, we really enjoyed our day with her. We went to two wineries and learned so much about Napa and how to taste wine, it was so enlightening. Highly recommend!

Once in a lifetime experience
I was looking for a special day for my wife's birthday and am so glad we booked this experience. Elizabeth really made us feel special and curated the day flawlessly. Everything about it was perfect - the wine, the weather, the food, the company.

Unique experience
We decided to book this tour with Elisabeth because we originally took her wine pairings tour and loved it! We went to two family owned wineries and absolutely loved our curated experience. They were wineries we'd never heard of and really appreciated her perspective on smaller production. Would definitely recommend this!

Experience the best of what Napa has to offer with a highly knowledgeable local guide
We were beyond impressed by both the tour and our highly knowledgeable guide, Elisabeth! I’ve been wine tasting in Napa before, but this was a one-of-a-kind experience that no one in our group will ever forget. We loved the wineries we visited and it was amazing how Elisabeth so perfectly tailored our tastings to match our preferences. The tour was exactly as described, if not better. Definitely a 10/10! The price of the tour feels like a steal for all that it includes. We feel like we got to experience the best of what Napa has to offer, and most importantly, with a guide who was born and raised in the area and knows it intimately. We plan to rebook this tour on our trip to Napa later this year.

Wine and dine in Napa Valley
An amazing Napa experience! Elizabeth showed us a great time and made all the logostical pieces easy because she had it all planned for us. We really enjoyed the wine and the restaurant was amazing as well. We learned a lot about Napa wine, the soil, and how the wine is made in Napa valley. Would highly recommend taking this tour.

Discover Napa Valley’s Hidden Gems with Local Sommelière: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Napa & Sonoma.
How much does Discover Napa Valley’s Hidden Gems with Local Sommelière cost?
+
Prices start at $595 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Napa & Sonoma usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Discover Napa Valley’s Hidden Gems with Local Sommelière take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Napa & Sonoma is not rushed.
Is Discover Napa Valley’s Hidden Gems with Local Sommelière worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable family friendly in Napa & Sonoma, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Discover Napa Valley’s Hidden Gems with Local Sommelière?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Discover Napa Valley’s Hidden Gems with Local Sommelière suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Discover Napa Valley’s Hidden Gems with Local Sommelière?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Napa & Sonoma can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Napa & Sonoma and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Discover Napa Valley’s Hidden Gems with Local Sommelière start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Napa & Sonoma within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Napa & Sonoma?
+
Napa and Sonoma are all about how a tour is put together: which wineries it can actually book, how many stops, whether lunch and tasting fees are included, and whether it lifts off in a balloon at sunrise. We weight inclusions and transparency heavily in the ranking here. On Outty we rank every Napa & Sonoma experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Napa Valley Small Group Winery Tour, #1 Sonoma Walking Food, Wine Tasting & History Tour (Public Tour), Sonoma Valley Pedal Assist Bike Tour with Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Napa & Sonoma?
+
March to May and September to November, with harvest crush in September. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Napa & Sonoma?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
