I loved this tour....

I loved this tour. Friendly knowledgeable guide. It was all very interesting. We were the only 2 people on the trip. Lots of different things to see and just under 4 hours was great for us as we'd had a very busy previous day. Would recommend.

Response from the operator: Hi Lorraine, Thank you so much for the lovely 5-star review! We are thrilled to hear that you and your companion had such a great time exploring the floating villages and Tonle Sap Lake with us. Having the trip to yourselves is always a special treat, and we're so glad the relaxed, under-4-hour pace was the perfect match for you after such a busy previous day. I will definitely pass your kind words along to your guide, who will be delighted to know their knowledge and friendliness made your tour so interesting. Thank you for highly recommending us, and we hope the rest of your travels are just as wonderful! Warm regards, The Tara Boat Team

View life on an environment that lies on the largest body of fresh water in SE Asia

We organized our own tour, traveling by Tuk Tuk from Siem Reap to the ticket office where one can easily purchase a ticket for a wooden boat ride to view the floating villages and unique way of life along the shores of Tonie Sap.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re glad to hear you enjoyed exploring the floating villages and seeing life along the Tonlé Sap. Just a quick note for future visitors: while it’s possible to arrange trips independently, our tours include a licensed local guide, hotel pickup and drop-off, safety-checked boats, and entrance fees—so guests can relax and enjoy the experience without any surprises or extra costs. We’re happy you had a good visit to the lake, and we hope to welcome you aboard one of our tours in the future! Miss Sreymom

Safe Hands and Warm Hearts

Truly memorable experience of the floating village on the Tonlé Sap lake. I had a sprained ankle so felt intrepid about transfers to boats. I was actually so well cared for by Mony our guide with help from fellow traveller, Jason. Picked up in air con taxi from hotel, looked after throughout and returned to hotel door. The speciality of this Tour was a lunch on a beautiful restored 1920s Cambodian boat, moored alongside the floating village, where as well as a delicious lunch we had time (45 mins) to take it all in. Enjoyed conversation with Mony, learning more about local custom and culture. I really loved this experience and appreciated the social enterprise ethics of this particular company which align with my own values. I think it translates into the kind of experience you have with the staff who clearly live what they do and enjoy working for this company. I recommend this tour and this company in a heartbeat. I hope to go back without a sprained ankle. 🙏🏼

Response from the operator: Thank you so much Kim for your kind review of our floating villages cruise tour, i will certainly pass on your words to all our staff, i know they all work so hard behind the scenes to ensure the best experience and we wish you safe and happy travel always, a real pleasure to have you on our tour, thanks so much Miss Sreymom

Floating Village

What a serene place and beautiful view of seeing little birds gliding through waters for a drink. Floating villages were awesome and do spend money in their shops to support them.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your awesome review of the floating villages tours, we wish you safe and happy travel always thanks Miss Sreymom

Excellent and Pleasant trip with Value for money

It was a very pleasant trip. Mr Friday is an excellent guide. He has gone extra miles to comfort us. I would recommend you to take this trip and visit the hidden gem of Siem Reap.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your lovely review of our floating villages cruise tour, your participation and also your awesome review will have a very positive impact on the floating villages you visited, as all our profits go towards the free education school for the poorer villages children, i will certainly pass on your review to our Mr Friday who after work teaches for free at the floating school which he is the main teacher and creator, safe travel always Miss Sreymom

discover floating villages and tonle sap lake by boat: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Siem Reap.

How much does discover floating villages and tonle sap lake by boat cost?

+

Prices start at $18 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Siem Reap usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does discover floating villages and tonle sap lake by boat take?

+

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Siem Reap is not rushed.

Is discover floating villages and tonle sap lake by boat worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 80 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Siem Reap, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule discover floating villages and tonle sap lake by boat?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is discover floating villages and tonle sap lake by boat suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book discover floating villages and tonle sap lake by boat?

+

Around 28 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Siem Reap can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Siem Reap and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does discover floating villages and tonle sap lake by boat start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Siem Reap within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Siem Reap?

+

On Outty we rank every Siem Reap experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Small-Group and Guide tours, Angkor Wat full Day 'Small Group with sunset & Tour Guide, Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Tour with Guide from Siem Reap. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Siem Reap?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Siem Reap?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
