A food tour worth your while

Had a fantastic tour, experienced two markets, various different types of food ranging from mole to insects to chocolate milk. Ricardo was fantastic, adding the history of every dish and educating us on the history of every food, Oaxaca and everything else we wanted to know. No question was left unanswered. We highly recommend this experience, 10/10!

Response from the operator: Thank you for your kind words! It's always encouraging to know Secret Food Tours lived up to expectations. We hope to welcome you again.

    Great food, great tour

Our guide Ricardo was the best. His English was perfect, which was super since our Spanish isn’t. He knew all the nice dishes, and told us a lot about them. He guided us through the maze of two markets and explained what we saw when we saw it. He made sure my peanut allergy was addressed, so I felt safe to eat everything. The amount of food was perfect, especially since we got half of the tlayuda ‘to go’. We had a great time with Ricardo, and he helped us find a specific snack to bring home for a Mexican friend!

Response from the operator: This was genuinely great to read. Hearing that the experience stayed with you afterward is the kind of thing our team never gets tired of hearing. Thanks again from Secret Food Tours!

    Best introduction to Oaxaca

Our guide, Ricardo was friendly and so knowledgeable. He gave us a lot of history and information about Oaxaca but also helpful information about our stay - where to eat, day trips to take, neighborhoods to visit. Ricardo was absolutely wonderful to spend the day with.

Response from the operator: It’s great that you took the time to write this. We’re happy the tour delivered a mix that felt both enjoyable and worthwhile. We’d be glad to have you back on another Secret Food Tours!

    Wonderful food tour!

My husband and I joined two other couples on this food tour, and enjoyed every minute of the experience. Armando, our guide, not only introduced us to delicious regional foods, but told us about ingredients, preparation, and history. He was a delight! We had a variety of foods and beverages - an overall wonderful time

Response from the operator: Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us! It’s always nice to hear the walk felt smooth and easy to enjoy. We’d happily welcome you again on another Secret Food Tours.

Discover Authentic Mexican Flavor on Our Private Oaxaca Food Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oaxaca City.

How much does Discover Authentic Mexican Flavor on Our Private Oaxaca Food Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oaxaca City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Discover Authentic Mexican Flavor on Our Private Oaxaca Food Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oaxaca City is not rushed.

Is Discover Authentic Mexican Flavor on Our Private Oaxaca Food Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Oaxaca City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Discover Authentic Mexican Flavor on Our Private Oaxaca Food Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Discover Authentic Mexican Flavor on Our Private Oaxaca Food Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Discover Authentic Mexican Flavor on Our Private Oaxaca Food Tour?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oaxaca City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oaxaca City and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Discover Authentic Mexican Flavor on Our Private Oaxaca Food Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oaxaca City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Oaxaca City?

    +

On Outty we rank every Oaxaca City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include AUTHENTIC OAXACA CULTURAL FOOD TOUR, eat like a local., Hierve el Agua 2.5 hours, Mitla, Tule, Rugs and Mezcal for a Day, Traditional Oaxaqueña Cooking with Grandma's Recipes. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Oaxaca City?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Oaxaca City?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
