Don’t book until the day you go.
This was the one tour we were looking forward to. Due to high winds the ship was unable to tender so we couldn’t get to shore. I offered to pay for the food purchased and asked for a refund for the rest. But the vendor refused. Paying over 600 euro for food is ridiculous. Don’t book until the day you go just in case of weather issues if you’re on a cruise.
Response from the operator: Dear Carole, Thanks for taking the time to bring this to our attention. We always aim to deliver a great experience, and we are gutted when we don’t meet expectations. Unfortunately, we received your cancelation request only some hours before the event was to be taking place. At that point, unfortunately we couldn't refund you, as our policy allows free cancellation only within 24 hours from the event. The host was booked for you (and only for you) bought the ingredients, and got ready for the event. He found himself with no work activity for the day and we need to compensate him for his purchases and for his time. We always care about our customers' happiness, that's why you can cancel with very short notice (24 hours in advance), but we also need to safeguard our hosts rights. We are sorry that the ship could not dock, but unfortunately this was not our fault. We have guests who are on a cruise, and guests to make it to the meeting point walking, because they are allocated in the city center or nearby. I hope you understand how much we care about what we do, and welcome you to try another experience with us next time you're in Italy. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip in Italy, and would like to take the opportunity to apologise once again. Best regards,
via Viator
A Truly memorable day
Thie day we spent with Elisa,Marcelo and Ambra was the best cooking experience ever. We were 3 couples and cannot say enough about their hospitality and genuine love of cooking. They opened thier home to us. By the end of the day we felt like family. If you are ever in the Portofino area and want a unique and memorable experience do not miss visiting Elisa, you will not be disappointed.

Wonderful experience
Probably the best night of our holiday. Hosts were extremely welcoming. We learnt about food but also Italian culture. We were with a very friendly group and enjoyed delicious food, aperitifs, wine and limoncello. Beautiful views to top it all.

Dining Experience at a local's Home in Santa Margherita Ligure with Show Cooking: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Genoa.
How much does Dining Experience at a local's Home in Santa Margherita Ligure with Show Cooking cost?
+
Prices start at $120 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Genoa usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Dining Experience at a local's Home in Santa Margherita Ligure with Show Cooking take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Genoa is not rushed.
Is Dining Experience at a local's Home in Santa Margherita Ligure with Show Cooking worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Genoa, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Dining Experience at a local's Home in Santa Margherita Ligure with Show Cooking?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Dining Experience at a local's Home in Santa Margherita Ligure with Show Cooking suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Dining Experience at a local's Home in Santa Margherita Ligure with Show Cooking?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Genoa can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Genoa and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Dining Experience at a local's Home in Santa Margherita Ligure with Show Cooking start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Genoa within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Genoa?
+
On Outty we rank every Genoa experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rooftop Cooking Class in Genoa: Pesto, Fresh Pasta & Wine, Genoa Small-Group Food Tour with Full Meal & Local Food Expert, Genoa Food, Wine Tasting & History Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Genoa?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Genoa?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Dining Experience at a local's Home in Santa Margherita Ligure with Show Cooking?
+
Included: Beverages (water, wines and coffee); Private 4-course dinner or 4-course lunch; and Private show cooking. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

+
This experience will be held in one of our Cesarina homes and, for privacy reasons, you will receive the full address of your Cesarina host after you have booked. Hotel pickup is not included, so plan your own transport and arrive 15 minutes early.
What languages is Dining Experience at a local's Home in Santa Margherita Ligure with Show Cooking offered in?
