Excellent hiking adventure
Great experience. My wife and I booked with Denali Backcountry Guides because we wanted a “Guided Hike” with a knowledgeable and experienced guide who really knows the Denali area. First, the communication and instructions from this company were excellent. Our guide, Andy, picked us up promptly and as scheduled. We had a very small group hike with only one other couple. He took us on a fairly remote hike to a place called Slime Canyon. In spite of its horrible name, this was a pristine and beautiful place. We hiked 6.86 miles with an elevation gain of 1308 feet. This hike started along a dirt road and continued along a “hiking easement” and up a mountain to the canyon. Our guide pointed out many types of plants that we encounted. We even ate blueberries and other berries that grow wild along our path. As we hiked up the canyon, we saw Dall sheep up on a ridge line. This hike was unique as the trail was very primitive and we had to hike through chest high vegetation. We ate our lunch/snacks leaning on boulders in a “magical” canyon. Overall, I highly recommend our guide, Andy, and this excellent company. They provided us with a safe and memorable experience; one that we will always remember.
Response from the operator: Special spot! Glad you enjoyed your time with Andy.

Highlight of our Denali Visit!
This was one of the highlights of our Alaska trip. Hiking in Denali with our naturalist guide, Eric, and it exceeded every expectation. Eric is incredibly knowledgeable about the park’s wildlife, plants, geology, and history. He shared fascinating information throughout the hike while keeping the experience fun, and tailored to our group’s pace. His passion for Denali is contagious, and you can tell he truly loves what he does. The scenery was breathtaking, and hiking off the beaten path gave us an appreciation for Denali that we never would have experienced on our own. If you’re considering a guided hike in Denali, don’t hesitate to book with Eric. It was worth every penny and is an experience we’ll remember for years. Highly recommend!
Response from the operator: Thank you, Melissa. So happy that you enjoyed your time in Denali with Eric. We are lucky to have him on our team!

Wonderful experience with a personable, knowledgeable guide
We thoroughly enjoyed our 7 mile hike with Eric on the Triple Lakes Trail in Denali National Park. His genuine enthusiasm for and knowledge of the local flora and fauna added tremendously to our experience. Highly recommend.

Hot cocoa with a view
The hike we did with Xavier is probably the key highlight for us from our stay in Denali. We wanted to take a more challenging path and he adapted it well to our skill level and the difficulty of the terrain due to the recent rain. We learned so much about the trees, plants and wild life as we hiked. Xavier had a special surprise for us by offering us hot cocoa on a cold day on top of the ridge. Thank you so much for this most memorable experience.

Why this scores 80
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Denali 5 Hour Hiking Tour with Naturalist Guide: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Denali National Park.
How much does Denali 5 Hour Hiking Tour with Naturalist Guide cost?
+
Prices start at $182 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Denali National Park usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Denali 5 Hour Hiking Tour with Naturalist Guide take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Denali National Park is not rushed.
Is Denali 5 Hour Hiking Tour with Naturalist Guide worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 80 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 72 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Denali National Park, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Denali 5 Hour Hiking Tour with Naturalist Guide?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Denali 5 Hour Hiking Tour with Naturalist Guide suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Denali 5 Hour Hiking Tour with Naturalist Guide?
+
Around 25 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Denali National Park can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Denali National Park and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Denali 5 Hour Hiking Tour with Naturalist Guide start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Denali National Park within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Denali National Park?
+
Denali runs park road bus safaris deep into the wilderness, flightseeing over the summit with glacier landings, rafting the Nenana River, sled dog kennel visits and guided tundra hikes. On Outty we rank every Denali National Park experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Denali Rafting Canyon Wave, Denali Rafting Wilderness Wave, Denali Peak Sightseeing by Plane. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Denali National Park?
+
June to early September, the only window the park road is open. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Denali National Park?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
