What you get

    About this experience

On this exciting excursion you will enjoy the best of Sorrento, Positano, and the ruins of Pompeii or Herculaneum. You will be greeted at the Port of Naples by your private driver before making your way to the archaeological site of Pompeii, the ancient city whose ruins were preserved by the volcanic eruption that devastated it in 79AD. Here you will spend the duration of the morning, before continuing on to the picturesque coastal village of Sorrento for some sightseeing and lunch. The tour continues along the Amalfi coast to the winding, narrow streets and seaside cafes of Positano. The day will conclude here, after which you will be taken back to the Port of Naples. In case you have already visited Pompeii, you can substitute it with Herculaneum. The site is less famous and smaller, but still harbors a wealth of archeological findings, which include stylish mosaics, ancient advertisements and well preserved homes.

    What you'll see and do

    1. Archaeological Park of Pompeii

If option selected you will visit this site instead of Ercolanum. Pompeii is a unique historic site in that in an ironic twist of fate, the catastrophe that decimated the citizens of the unsuspecting town is also responsible for the near-perfect preservation of many things that would have otherwise been destroyed in all other such natural disasters. You’ll see art, furniture, and other everyday items the citizens used – in addition to the macabre plaster forms that are accurate representations of the citizens as captured in their last living moments.

    2. Archeological Park of Herculaneum

If option selected you will visit this site instead of Pompei. Ercolano is a town and comune in the Metropolitan City of Naples, Campania of Southern Italy. It lies at the western foot of Mount Vesuvius, on the Bay of Naples, just southeast of the city of Naples. The medieval town of Resina was built on the volcanic material left by the eruption of Vesuvius (79 AD) that destroyed the ancient city of Herculaneum, from which the present name is derived.

    3. Amalfi Coast

Magically suspended between the blue sky and the iridescent colored sea, the Amalfi coast seems to be born from the palette of a painter who wanted to use the warmer color gradients for creating a landscape that enchants the visitor at the first shot, giving thrilling experience and such evocative view to doubt, for a moment, it is real. It is the land where the sweet scent of lemon blossoms harmonizes itself with the most aromatic one of the Mediterranean vegetation and the acrid aroma of saltiness; where the brilliant colors of the majolica domes, bougainvillea and carnations pergolas give an evident colored touch to the typical whitewashed houses, clinging to the last offshoots of the Lattari Mounts that plunge dramatically into the sea.

      Pass by without stopping

    4. Sorrento Coast

The Sorrento Coast is a jagged promontory that shores up the southern end of the Bay of Naples. This peninsula of hilly terrain ends abruptly at a cliff that plunges sheerly down to the Mediterranean sea. The entire coastline around Sorrento was a Greek colony during the period of Magna Grecia, the legendary site of Homer's sirens, before being conquered by the Romans who enjoyed the area as a summer playground. It has maintained a reputation as an exclusive resort destination ever since. It boasts a mild climate, gorgeous panoramas and citrus-scented air.

    5. Sorrento

Sorrento is a town overlooking the Bay of Naples in Southern Italy. A popular tourist destination due to its variety of small antique shops and location on the Amalfi Coast, it can be reached easily from Naples and Pompeii as it is at the south-eastern end of the Circumvesuviana rail line. The town is most known for its small shops selling ceramics, lacework and marquetry (woodwork). The Sorrentine Peninsula has views of Naples, Vesuvius and the Isle of Capri. The Amalfi Drive, connecting Sorrento and Amalfi, is a narrow road that threads along the high cliffs above the Tyrrhenian Sea. Ferries and hydrofoils connect the town to Naples, Amalfi, Positano, Capri and Ischia. Sorrento's sea cliffs and luxury hotels have attracted celebrities including Enrico Caruso and Luciano Pavarotti. Limoncello, a digestif made from lemon rinds, alcohol, water and sugar, is produced in Sorrento. Other agricultural production includes citrus fruit, wine, nuts and olives.

      60 minutes here

    6. Positano

Dramatic, deluxe and more than a little dashing, Positano is the Amalfi Coast's front-cover splash, with vertiginous houses tumbling down to the sea in a cascade of sun-bleached peach, pink and terracotta. No less photo-worthy are its steep streets and steps, flanked by wisteria-draped hotels, smart restaurants and fashionable retailers. A pearl of the Amalfi Coast, it presents itself as a cluster of pastel houses clinging to the steep ledges of the Lattari Mountains, which reflect themselves in the clear sea below, surrounded by an intense fragrance of lemon and bright and vivid colors of bougainvillea. A maze of alleys and steps with small shops displaying the typical products of local crafts, which, together with the undisputed beauty of the landscape, have contributed to make Positano and the Amalfi Coast famous world-wide. We refer to the fresh linen dresses in style "Positano fashion", the leather sandals, the colorful ceramics and the limoncello.

Third time with RIL was excellent

This was our third experience with Rome in Limo over the past 10 years, and once again they exceeded our expectations. Our first experience was when we joined a tour that someone else had arranged. We were so impressed with the professionalism that we booked them ourselves for a return trip to Italy in 2016. On that trip they provided wonderful shore excursions from Livorno to Cinque Terre and from Civitavecchia on their "Alternate Tuscany" tour. Both were outstanding. Because of those positive experiences, choosing them again for our 2026 Mediterranean cruise was an easy decision. We booked four separate private services, and Rome in Limo once again delivered exceptional service from beginning to end. A special thank you to Jany, who answered every question promptly and professionally. We made arrangements over many months, and Jany was always patient, organized, and responsive. This communication gave us confidence long before we arrived in Italy. Airport Transfer (FCO to Hotel Porto di Roma, Civitavecchia): I arrived in Rome before the rest of my party, and the driver contacted me on WhatsApp after landing. Although the arrivals area was very crowded, he quickly found me after sending him a photo. The Mercedes van was spotless, air-conditioned, and very comfortable. The drive to Civitavecchia was smooth, and I arrived relaxed after a long international flight. Naples Shore Excursion – Pompeii & Sorrento: Because our cruise ship's port call was changed from Salerno to Naples due to port construction, I contacted Rome in Limo. They immediately adjusted our pickup location without any problems. Their flexibility and excellent communication eliminated what could have been a stressful situation. Our driver, Alex, was outstanding—professional, personable, knowledgeable, and an excellent driver. We also had a guided tour of Pompeii with Mario, whose enthusiasm and knowledge brought the ancient city to life. Pompeii was one of the highlights of our trip, and we appreciated having both an outstanding local guide and an outstanding driver. Transfers: Civitavecchia to Orvieto and Orvieto to Rome Fiumicino Airport: Both drivers arrived exactly on time, helped with our luggage, and drove safely and comfortably. Every Mercedes van we rode in was clean, well maintained, air-conditioned, and exceptionally comfortable. What impressed us most was the consistency. Every driver was courteous, every vehicle was first-class, every transfer operated exactly as promised, and communication throughout the entire process was outstanding. As someone who worked in the travel industry and has been on many cruises, I especially appreciate companies that consistently deliver excellent customer service. Rome in Limo has now earned our business on three different trips over the past decade, and they have never disappointed us. I would not hesitate to recommend Rome in Limo to fellow Cruise Critic members or to use them again on a future trip to Italy. Thank you to Jany, Alex, Mario, and the entire Rome in Limo team for helping make another Italian vacation truly memorable.

Great experience with Alex and Carlos

I had absolutely an amazing experience. We had a party of 10 and even with that many people we all were able to truly enjoy our time there. Alex and Carlos were absolutely top notch guides. Sharing insights, highlights, and overall just a wonderful experience. Thank you again for making this a memorable family vacation.

    Absolutely amazing!

My family just returned from a Mediterranean cruise and used Rome in Limo for three different ports. Rome in Limo truly made all the difference with maximizing the limited time we had at each stop. This was my husband and daughters' (9 and 12) first time in Italy, and I wanted to make sure they saw as much as possible. Everything was seamless. My contact, Jany, was prompt in responses, was very detailed, and answered all my questions. Our first port was La Spezia. We met our driver, Alessandro, outside the terminal and did the Florence and Pisa tour. Alessandro was friendly and made sure that we hit all the important spots of Florence. He got us over to Pisa and back to the boat in time. Next, Peter picked us up in Civitavecchia to take us to Rome. Our tour covered the highlights of Rome and the Vatican. I had my doubts if we could get it all done, but Peter succeeded. He knew exactly where to go and how to get there to get us in and out. Due to limited time, we did the 20 minute Arena only visit to the Coliseum, which was enough for us. These tickets sell out quick so I got them online immediately when they were released. We did the 1:00 tour of the Vatican with the private guide recommended by Rome In Limo. She was worth every penny! She was able to go behind the scenes to get us around the museum in two hours. In Naples we were picked up by Fabio for a trip to Sorrento and Positano, followed by Pompeii. Such an amazing day! Fabio shared so much information, took lots of pictures, and took us to an amazing family restaurant with a lovely view. It was our favorite day. I can't recommend Rome in Limo enough. I wish they were available in every country!!!!

Daytrip from Naples port to Pompei, Sorrento & Positano: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Naples.

How much does Daytrip from Naples port to Pompei, Sorrento & Positano cost?

    +

Prices start at $174 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Naples usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Daytrip from Naples port to Pompei, Sorrento & Positano take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Naples is not rushed.

Is Daytrip from Naples port to Pompei, Sorrento & Positano worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 59 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Naples, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Daytrip from Naples port to Pompei, Sorrento & Positano?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Daytrip from Naples port to Pompei, Sorrento & Positano suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Daytrip from Naples port to Pompei, Sorrento & Positano?

    +

Around 21 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Naples can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Naples and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Daytrip from Naples port to Pompei, Sorrento & Positano start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Naples within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Naples?

    +

On Outty we rank every Naples experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Private Amalfi Coast Tour from Sorrento/Naples/Salerno, Caserta Royal Palace & Gardens Small Group Tour with Shuttle, Naples Pizza and Tiramisu Cooking Class. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Naples?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Naples?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
