DO NOT DO THIS TOUR

A really really horrible tour. The driver/guide did not explain a single thing to us on the ~4 hour drive to, or back from, the Ksar. At the Ksar itself we had to pay 25 dirham each for a local guide who told us no information and only gave us free time aside from dragging us into several shops (also the price for a guide is actually 20 dirham he lied to us). We stopped in Ouarzazate for maybe 10 minutes, no where near anywhere relevant and we were told we didn't have enough time in the town. A waste of a day. DO NOT DO THIS TOUR. I am requesting a refund.

Response from the operator: We sincerely apologize for the disappointment you experienced during your recent tour. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we truly regret any inconvenience caused by the lack of information from the driver/guide, unexpected fees for a local guide, and the brief stop in Ouarzazate. To address your concerns, we recommend reaching out to the tour operator directly, providing them with specific details about the issues you encountered. Expressing your concerns to them will give them an opportunity to investigate and address the issues directly. If you booked the tour through a third-party platform, it would also be helpful to contact their customer support and share your experience to seek their assistance in resolving the matter. We understand the importance of transparent communication and the need for a satisfying travel experience. Rest assured that we take your feedback seriously, and we hope the tour operator or third-party platform will be able to provide a suitable resolution, including any necessary refunds. We appreciate your understanding and patience in this matter, and we sincerely hope that your future travel experiences with us will exceed your expectations.

Typical tourist trap experience

The van was burning motor oil with all of the engine lights on the entire journey, creating nauseating fumes for everyone in the van. We were met in town by a guide who proceeded to rush us through the majority of the monument, with the exception of being forced to watch two demonstrations in an attempt to make us buy art and rugs. These demonstrations alone lasted longer than the time we had to explore the monument. On top of that, the guide completely disappeared on us during the rug selling bit and so the group just decided to explore on their own, and 20 minutes later the guide found us all and then proceeded to corral and hurry us up into one restaurant only with set menus of 4 options and incredibly overpriced.

Response from the operator: I'm sorry to hear about the disappointing experience you had during your journey. Issues with the van and a rushed tour with unexpected sales demonstrations can indeed detract from the overall enjoyment. It's unfortunate that the guide's disappearance further added to the frustration. Your feedback highlights areas where improvements are needed in terms of service and communication. When encountering such situations, it's recommended to communicate your concerns directly with the tour operator or guide, as they may be able to address some of the issues on the spot. Additionally, sharing your experience through reviews and feedback is valuable in helping others make informed decisions about their travel choices. If you have specific concerns or issues that you would like assistance with, it might be helpful to reach out to the tour operator directly to provide detailed feedback. I hope your future travel experiences are more positive and meet your expectations.

Lovely experience

Ait ben haddou is about 4hrs from Marrakech so it's quite a long journey, but there are lots to see along the way & many photos stop. The van is comfortable. Our guide, Khalil, was punctual, professional, extremely helpful, super friendly, & incredibly knowledgeable! Ait Ben Haddou is a beautiful place and rich in history The lunch is included as we ask for a special program, the food was very good & in a beautiful setting. My daughter and I had a wonderful day!

Nice trip

I had good time there. I would recommend to anyone who do not have a few days to visit Merzouga because it is too far away from Marrakech

We put customer experience and satisfaction as our priority, and your review reaffirms the hard work we put in every day. So thanks for your kind words and we look forward to seeing you again

Day Trip to Ait Ben Haddou Ouarzazate: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Marrakech.

How much does Day Trip to Ait Ben Haddou Ouarzazate cost?

+

Prices start at $40 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Marrakech usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Day Trip to Ait Ben Haddou Ouarzazate take?

+

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Marrakech is not rushed.

Is Day Trip to Ait Ben Haddou Ouarzazate worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Marrakech, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Day Trip to Ait Ben Haddou Ouarzazate?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Day Trip to Ait Ben Haddou Ouarzazate suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 3. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 9-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Day Trip to Ait Ben Haddou Ouarzazate?

+

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Marrakech can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Marrakech and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Day Trip to Ait Ben Haddou Ouarzazate start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Marrakech within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Marrakech?

+

On Outty we rank every Marrakech experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Agafay Desert Quad Bike Camel Ride and Dinner Show, Best Marrakech to Fes Sahara Desert Tour with Camp & Camel Trek, 3 Day Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Tour Camel Rides and Overnight. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Marrakech?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Marrakech?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
