The Mosque of al-Hakim is a historic mosque in Cairo, Egypt. It is named after Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah (985–1021), the sixth Fatimid caliph and 16th Ismaili Imam. Construction of the mosque was originally started by Caliph al-'Aziz, the son of al-Mu'izz and the father of al Hakim, in 990 AD. It was completed in 1013 by al-Hakim, which is why it is named after him.

Excellent tour with knowledgeable guide
On our very first full day in Egypt, we were accompanied by Zizou on a tour of Islamic Cairo. He was a wonderful guide, knowledgeable and kind and provided a memorable experience. We toured several of the important masjids in Egypt and benefited from his knowledge of each site, its historical context, religious significance, and architectural importance. Had we had more time, we would have loved to spend additional days with him to go to the many famous and important places in Cairo, including the Ahl-al-Bayt masajids, Imam Shafi, among others. He also helped us to bargain at the Khan el Khalili market and bought us both mugs as a gift for our recent marriage. Alhamdulillah we feel very blessed we found him and that he was a part of our stay in Egypt. He also later helped us with additional tours when we went to other cities in Egypt. This is a well organized, stress free and comprehensive tour of Islamic Cairo. You will not be disappointed.

Coptic Cairo
We went on the tour which included the Muhammed Ali Mosque, Coptic Cairo and the Museum of Civilization. Our guide, Zizou, was very experienced and knowledgeable. He was able to give us excellent details about the places we visited that day and without him we would not have seen or understood what or where we were seeing. His English is excellent and he was great company too. We were driven around Cairo in a minibus which we had to ourselves. I definitely recommend this tour and guide.
