Dare to walk the haunted heart of Key West—where the veil between the living and the dead is razor-thin. Your journey begins sweetly enough at River Street Sweets… but don’t let your guard down. From the cursed corridors of The Artist House—once home to the infamous Robert the Doll—to the haunted grounds of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, something watches from the shadows. At Dean-Lopez Funeral Home, the air grows heavier with every step, while La Concha Hotel and Marrero’s Guest Mansion echo with screams that never made it into the history books. You'll pass on to the ghost-infested Oldest House, and the lush but sinister Audubon House, where spirits cling to the past. Your final stop? Captain Tony’s Saloon—built on bones, soaked in legend, and still home to the dead. This is not just a tour... it’s a test of courage.

What you'll see and do
St. Paul's Episcopal Church
The tour meets on the corner of Duval Street and Eaton Street outside of the gates of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, located at 401 Duval St, Key West, FL 33040. In the heart of Old Town Key West, where the sea mist mingles with whispers of the past, stands St. Paul’s Episcopal Church—a hauntingly beautiful structure veiled in mystery. Locals speak of flickering lantern lights that appear in the belfry at midnight, long after the last soul has left. Beneath its grounds lie hundreds of forgotten graves, disturbed by storms and time, their spirits said to roam the churchyard restlessly. Visitors have reported cold touches on warm nights, spectral figures in the stained glass, and a phantom priest seen pacing the pews, murmuring prayers for the dead. Step lightly—at St. Paul’s, the line between heaven and haunting grows thin.
10 minutes here
With its ornate Victorian facade and blood-red gables, the Artist House on Eaton Street is as enchanting as it is eerie. Once home to eccentric painter Robert Eugene Otto, it’s most infamous for sheltering Robert the Doll—a childhood toy said to be cursed, and perhaps possessed. Strange footsteps, whispered conversations, and the sensation of being watched are often reported by guests who dare to spend the night. Though Robert has since moved to a museum, some say his spirit still lingers, pacing the halls of his former home. The Artist House is not just a bed and breakfast—it's a portal into Key West’s most chilling legend.
10 minutes here
Tucked among the quiet streets of Key West, the Dean-Lopez Funeral Home holds more than memories of the dearly departed—it holds the legend of Count Von Cassel. A mysterious European aristocrat with a taste for the macabre. Some say the Count’s soul never left, bound by obsession or unfinished deeds, still lingering in the cool silence of the embalming room.
10 minutes here
La Concha Hotel rises like a grand sentinel over Duval Street, its historic walls soaked in luxury—and legend. Once the tallest building in Key West, La Concha became a tragic magnet for suicides—many leaping from its rooftop bar. But the most chilling tales come from hotel staff who say no amount of renovations can quiet the restless dead who checked in…but never checked out.
10 minutes here
Behind the wrought-iron gates and lush palms of Marrero’s Guest Mansion lies a love story turned ghost tale. Guests report the scent of rose perfume in empty rooms, soft weeping in the night, and the sensation of unseen hands brushing their hair.
10 minutes here
The Oldest House in Key West holds more than history—it holds hauntings. Its weathered walls have seen shipwreck survivors, Civil War soldiers, and generations of restless souls. Step carefully—some say the house watches back.
10 minutes here
Audubon House & Tropical Gardens
Beneath the swaying palms and vibrant blooms of the Audubon House lies a darker tale than its beauty suggests. Built by Captain John Geiger, the home is said to be haunted by the very souls who once walked its grand halls. The birds may sing by day, but at night, the house whispers with the echoes of the past.
10 minutes here
Capt. Tony's Saloon
Captain Tony’s Saloon is more than a bar—but a crypt of Key West’s past. Built on the site of the original city morgue and hanging tree, the saloon’s walls are soaked in stories of death and despair. At Captain Tony’s, the spirits in your glass may not be the only ones you encounter.

Not so dark, maybe lightly toasted
My fiance and I, and our dog love to go on ghost tours. We saw that they offered one in Key West and we decided to go on Monday night. We were originally told there was no tours that night, but then they called me back and said that they could accommodate us. We were excited and couldn't wait for our tour! I've gone on a lot of ghost tours in my life, and it really boils down to the storytelling abilities of the tour guide. I can't remember the name of the girl that we had, and although she was very sweet, her stories just seemed like they were recently memorized and given with no flare. It was interesting, but not one of the better ghost tours that we had been on. They had offered three different types of Tours, one that was friendly for families, one was a pub crawl, and one was The Dark Side of Key West ghost tour. We chose the dark side and it was more like lightly toasted. LOL

Do it!
We had a wonderful time on the tour! Unfortunately I can’t remember our tour guides name but she was wonderful! So knowledgeable about the area and willing to answer any questions we had! I really learned a lot. I wouldn’t call this a ghost tour but she told us stories about specific buildings that people have had experiences in. If you like a historically based tour this one is for you!
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re so glad you had a wonderful time and that your guide was able to answer your questions and share so much of Key West’s fascinating history. While the stories of reported experiences may not always involve a traditional ghost encounter, we love exploring the legends and history connected to the city’s historic buildings. We appreciate your recommendation and hope you’ll join us again!

SCAM
My son booked this without understanding it was a "walking" tour. Well, I have a cane and am unable to walk very much. (I'm 91). We asked for a refund within 20 minutes stating I was unable to walk very far, When I called the phone number she just said "no refunds" and hung up. I will fight it through my bank but that was just plain rude. There are many 'ghost" tours in Key West, just don't book this one.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience, and I’m truly sorry for the frustration and distress this caused. We never want any guest—especially someone celebrating time with family—to feel dismissed or treated rudely. While our walking tours and no-refund policy are stated in advance, we understand this situation was challenging, and I apologize that the interaction you described did not feel compassionate or helpful. Your feedback is being taken seriously and will be reviewed so we can do better in how we communicate and handle sensitive situations like this in the future.

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Dark Side of Key West Ghost Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Key West.
How much does Dark Side of Key West Ghost Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $35 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Key West usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Dark Side of Key West Ghost Tour take?
+
Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Key West is not rushed.
Is Dark Side of Key West Ghost Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 355 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Key West, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Dark Side of Key West Ghost Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Dark Side of Key West Ghost Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Dark Side of Key West Ghost Tour?
+
Around 124 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Key West can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Key West and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Dark Side of Key West Ghost Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Key West within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Key West?
+
Key West is a boat town. The only living coral barrier reef in the continental US sits seven miles offshore, and reef trips, sunset catamarans and backcountry kayak runs are the core bookings, alongside Hemingway house and Duval history walks. Our ranking weighs boat capacity and reef site rotation, which separates the good operators from the party cruises. On Outty we rank every Key West experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Guided Bike Tour of Old Town Key West, Half-Day Trip from Key West with Kayaking, Snorkeling & Sunset, Shark and Wildlife Viewing Adventure in Key West. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Key West?
+
December to April, dry season and calm reef water. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Key West?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
