Mangrove boat tour - best guide, best activity!
The mangrove boat tour was my family's favorite activity during our week in Manuel Antonio. Our guide Alan was so friendly and knowledgeable and he helped everyone in our family of 14 (from ages 5 to 80) have a great time and see everything. The boat was comfortable and we got to see an amazing variety of birds and animals. (At several points we all noted how glad we were to not be kayaking.) The captain was also top-notch, steering us expertly to get the best views of each animal -- plus he amazingly spotted a tiny silky anteater from so far away! The white-faced monkeys were a highlight. The dinner afterward was very good.
Response from the operator: We are so glad you had a positive experience with Tucanes Tours. Your support is invaluable to us. Looking forward to seeing you again soon!

Excellent tour run by even better people!
We had a great time on the tour and saw so many kinds of animals and it was so relaxing on the boat. We were picked up from a hotel near our air bnb exactly when they had scheduled with us. Our guide Alejandro greeted us and spoke English and made us feel very welcomed. Rebecca was the driver and probably the safest one we’ve had on our whole trip. Alejandro was giving us information about the area, answered every question, got us drinks. Once on the boat the Captain was excellent with the boat, stopping and maneuvering to get the best angles on all the wildlife we encountered, and between him and Alejandro I don’t think we missed a single thing that wasn’t there to be seen. Everything we came across Alejandro gave us the names and information and even on other animals we had encountered on our own outside the tour. We finished up with a great supper at their restaurant, super fresh and delicious. Lastly they dropped us off and even stopped at a bank machine because we forgot cash and wanted to tip everyone because they were all so friendly and great to us. Thanks again!

A great day on the water.
Our guides Marlon and Andrea were outstanding. We didn't catch many fish but the experience of being out on the water and the beauty of Costa Rica was wonderful. Pura vida!

Damas Island Mangrove Fishing Tour from Manuel Antonio: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Quepos.
How much does Damas Island Mangrove Fishing Tour from Manuel Antonio cost?
+
Prices start at $898 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Quepos usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Damas Island Mangrove Fishing Tour from Manuel Antonio take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Quepos is not rushed.
Is Damas Island Mangrove Fishing Tour from Manuel Antonio worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Quepos, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Damas Island Mangrove Fishing Tour from Manuel Antonio?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Damas Island Mangrove Fishing Tour from Manuel Antonio suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Damas Island Mangrove Fishing Tour from Manuel Antonio?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Quepos can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Quepos and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Damas Island Mangrove Fishing Tour from Manuel Antonio start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Quepos within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Quepos?
+
On Outty we rank every Quepos experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Waterfall Adventure, Manuel Antonio Canopy Tour - Longest Twin Zip Line in Central America, Manuel Antonio Park Tour and its Amazing Wildlife and Beaches. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Quepos?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Quepos?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
