Very informative boat trip with monkey fun too
Our guide was excellent, giving great commentary from hotel pick up to Damas and on boat. Delicious fruit, lunch and juice. Captain Freddy was a super spotter too. Saw monkeys, bats, boa and numerous birds. Good length trip.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your kindest and supportness ¡ it very pleasant to begin the week with positive vibes. Pura Vida - Adrian Martinez - Iguana Tours.

Good tour through the mangroves
This was a pretty nice tour through the Damas mangroves. Juan, our guide was pretty funny and engaging. We saw a decent amount of wildlife, including a troop of capuchins. It might have been a tad too long, but it was still good overall. We had a nice dinner of chicken fajitas afterward.
Response from the operator: We would like to thank you for kind support and comment. We appreciated and will share it with the guide and captain. Best regards, Adrian Martinez - Iguana Tours.

Damas mangrove boat tour - We had an amazing experience with Iguana Tours!
We had an amazing experience with Iguana Tours! We took the Damas mangrove boat tour at night with our family of four with two small children. Honestly, it was one of my favorite parts of our whole trip! Our bilingual guide was very charismatic and educational, and the environment was so unique, dense, and unforgettable! We saw crocodiles, lots of very young iguanas, and hundreds of crabs in every color imaginable! A truly special experience on a river at night, and a very different glimpse of this amazing region than some of the more crowded adventures. There was even a delicious meal included afterward! Highly recommended!
Response from the operator: This is like exactly how we expected to react on this Damas Mangrove tour by night. It is just a different invoiroment and scenery. Thank you for your great description and sharing your experience. Best Regards, Adrian Martinez - Iguana Tours.

Boring and way too long
This trip duration could have honestly been cut in half. I found it incredibly boring. If anyone hadn’t already seen the capuchin monkeys that are plentiful throughout the area, they would appreciate that part of the boat ride. Otherwise all we saw were a few single bird specials and the actual mangrove trees and that is it. I was led to believe we would almost be guaranteed to see crocs and rainbow boas from the description of the tour that my hotel shared with me. This is not worth the money at all. The boat seats are incredibly uncomfortable. Everyone was complaining about it after the ride. They could invest in some cushions. Our guide was Monica and although she was friendly and seemed knowledgeable and her English was great, she had little to point out to us. There were very long periods of complete silence. Not her fault at all. There were 10 tourists on the boat. They were going to feed us dinner at their office afterwards and 6 of us asked them if they could just return us to our hotels rather than sticking around for a meal. I would suspect everyone was just done…bored out of their heads. I think most of us would much rather prefer to select where and what we eat so it’s an unnecessary add on. At least charge people less, do an hour long mangrove tour and get people back to civilization. If there were bountiful crocs, boas or anteaters it would be a completely different story. Our guide even told us it’s rare to see a croc, so why is it advertised in the e-brochure through my hotel property (Parador)? Dissappointed and wasted half a day.
Response from the operator: Hello dear friends, on behalf of Iguana Tours, we would like to apologize for not giving the experience you expected to be. We understand sometime expectations are a little higher than reality becuase the sales person is doing his best to sale an activity. In our side we word in a total natural invoiroment who can be in our side and some time not help at all. It is the natue as it self and we can not promise to see anything. We inform always there is a posibility, but not gurantee. We have use this kind of seat for many years and first time we received a comment like your about them, but we will consider your opinion about to improve. We are always open to improve our self. Thank you for your feedback, we will make the friendly remainder to the hotel about the expectations of the fauna in the Damas Mangrove Estuary. Best regards and Pura Vida - Adrian Martinez - Iguana Tours.

Damas Mangrove Boat Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Quepos.
How much does Damas Mangrove Boat Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $95 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Quepos usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Damas Mangrove Boat Tour take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Quepos is not rushed.
Is Damas Mangrove Boat Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 96 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Quepos, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Damas Mangrove Boat Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Damas Mangrove Boat Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Damas Mangrove Boat Tour?
+
Around 34 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Quepos can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Quepos and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Damas Mangrove Boat Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Quepos within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Quepos?
+
On Outty we rank every Quepos experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Waterfall Adventure, Manuel Antonio Canopy Tour - Longest Twin Zip Line in Central America, Manuel Antonio Park Tour and its Amazing Wildlife and Beaches. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Quepos?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Quepos?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
