    So Special

I had some nerves about traveling out of the country alone with my tween aged children for the first time. I took time to research and plan our trip, as we wanted a more authentic Domincan experience than just the traditional resort or port stops. Juan could not have delivered a more amazing experience. From fair pricing and amazing communication, to sharing insights about the country's history, culture, economy, and traditions, we had an amazing adventure to a beautiful part of the world. Top notch service all the way around, and memories that will last a life time. Mi agradecimiento y mi gratitud son infinitos. Gracias.

Response from the operator: It was truly our pleasure to help create memories that last a lifetime. At JCarlos Travel, we are committed to delivering exceptional service and unforgettable experiences to each of our guests. Every tour is a new opportunity for us to exceed expectations—from start to finish. Your satisfaction means everything to us, and we sincerely appreciate your trust and feedback.

Absolutely book this and JuanCarlos Travel!

We had the most fun with this experience ! If you’re looking for a thrill factor to add to your vacation, this is it! It’s absolutely beautiful and definitely gets your adrenaline rushing. It is a long hike up to the waterfalls but you have rest periods. The view and experience itself makes the long walk totally worth it. We had so much fun with swimming through the waterfalls, going down the natura slides qnd even jumped off with a 13 ft jump! Gets your heart pumping for sure. You are wearing life jackets but i would still highly recommend knowing how to swim. We booked the excursion/transportation through here, and JuanCarlos was our transportation/guide. He was absolutely amazing! We felt safe and comfortable the whole time. The communication was great, he was funny and explained a lot about the culture down here in DR and Puerto Plata. We were entertained and had wonderful conversations the way there and back. He was on time and stayed until we were done with the excursions. We even got a little appreciation gift from him for booking. He made the experience so enjoyable for us and even showed us an extra stop for some Puerto Plata history. Would book transportation with him again in a heartbeat! We accidently left something in the van after drop off and he contacted us and had someone come deliver it to the resort for us. You can tell he truly cares for his guests/passengers. It was an absolute pleasure. We’d book him for all our transportation if able❤️

Response from the operator: We thank you for you feedback J Carlos travel we are very happy to hear from you and you haved the best experience on the waterfall tour excursions safely and fun it ours gold on your journey thank again for taking your time to write about us j Carlos travel

    Our driver Carlos was...

Our driver Carlos was amazing and very patient with my family. He was very helpful, ensured we got into the tour group as soon as we arrived (because of our tight cruise schedule), and even gave us water and free baggage storage instead of paying to rent out a locker. My dad loved chatting with him on the drive there and back.

Response from the operator: Thanks for your kind words! We are happy to hear that Carlos made your Damajagua experience enjoyable. We hope to welcome you or any other family-friends again soon ! :-)

    Damajagua experience: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Plata.

How much does Damajagua experience cost?

    +

Prices start at $45 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Plata usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Damajagua experience take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Plata is not rushed.

    Is Damajagua experience worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 27 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Plata, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Damajagua experience?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Damajagua experience suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Damajagua experience?

    +

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Plata can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Plata and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Damajagua experience start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Plata within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Puerto Plata?

    +

On Outty we rank every Puerto Plata experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Monkeyland and Zipline Adventure from Puerto Plata, Monkeyland Puerto Plata, Puerto Plata Highlights City Tours from amber cove and Taino bay. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Puerto Plata?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Puerto Plata?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
