    About this experience

This is a very popular ride along the wide, unsurfaced track of a disused railway line. We do the downhill version of this route, making it an easy ride, suitable for families and leisure cyclists. The route meanders through valleys, olive groves, forests and along flowing rivers. You will pass through 30 tunnels (the longest is nearly 1km in length) and over 4 viaducts. Ride past a vulture colony, high up on the cliffs, and pop into the visitor centre to watch the “vulture-cam”. This route is self-guided; we drive you to the start point at the old station building in Olvera (approx 45 minutes from Ronda) and the minibus meets you in Puerto Serrano to bring you back to Ronda.

    A perfect day trip

Santi picked us up at the train station and drove us to the starting point. He provided a lot of useful information about the route and surrounding area. The bikes were ideally suited for the ride and were very well maintained. We really enjoyed the scenery and riding through the tunnels was great fun. The ride was quite easy, although there was one long hill at the end. Santi was waiting for us at the end of the trip and got us back to Ronda promptly.

Response from the operator: Hi, thank you for your nice review. We enjoy providing great days out on the bikes and passing on some local information to visitors of the region. Hope to see you again. Wayne

    Great 5 days around Ronda

We had a fantastic 5 days of Hiking and Riding with Heather and Wayne in the areas around Ronda. They are great hosts and very knowledgeable about the area. We could not have chosen a better tour operator. The routes and scenery where stunning. They also recommended the hotel we stayed in which was excellent. I would highly recommend using them and would definitely use them again.

Response from the operator: Hi Tim, it was apleasure to ride with you and get you out into the Serranis de Ronda. Thank you for the very nice review. We hope to see you again. Wayne

Stunning 36km family cycle, excellent organisation by Hike & Bike, enabling us to just turn up, cycle and enjoy!

Stunning 36km bike ride along the Via Verde de la Sierra. Through 30 tunnels, over 4 viaducts, past a nesting site of vultures, along a planned railway track that was never completed. Very highly recommended! Heather was fabulous, meeting us at the train station, driving us to the start, providing the bikes (which were great) and useful tips for the route, meeting us at the end and driving us back to our hotel. Superb service. Heather also provided us with a restaurant recommendation for the evening which was delicious.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing how much you enjoyed your bike ride with us. We would love to see you back again someday to ride again. Wayne

    Great fun!

The day started out problematically because there was an epic rainstorm. Heather adjusted her plans and picked us up at our hotel. Because of the rain, she gave us options to how we would like to proceed. We decided that once we got wet, we would be soaked and it wouldn’t matter anymore. So glad we chose this option! The Via Verde was scenic, fun, and the added rain etc made it more exciting! On the way to and from our ride, Heather was able to give us a lot of interesting information about the area and the history. She is very personable and we shared a lot of laughs. Highly recommend this company! Oh, btw- the bikes and helmet were in great condition!

Cycling - Via Verde de la Sierra - 36km - Easy Level: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Malaga.

How much does Cycling - Via Verde de la Sierra - 36km - Easy Level cost?

    +

Prices start at $165 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Malaga usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Cycling - Via Verde de la Sierra - 36km - Easy Level take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Malaga is not rushed.

Is Cycling - Via Verde de la Sierra - 36km - Easy Level worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 30 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Malaga, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Cycling - Via Verde de la Sierra - 36km - Easy Level?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Cycling - Via Verde de la Sierra - 36km - Easy Level suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Cycling - Via Verde de la Sierra - 36km - Easy Level?

    +

Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Malaga can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Malaga and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Cycling - Via Verde de la Sierra - 36km - Easy Level start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Malaga within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Malaga?

    +

On Outty we rank every Malaga experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Malaga City Tour 2 Hours Monumental Segway Tour, Taste of Malaga Tour : Tapas, History and Local Customs, Go local for a day!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Malaga?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Malaga?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
