    Amazing!

I had so much fun! We learned the history and cultural context which was a beautiful way to open up the space. The instructors moved at our pace and it was easy to follow even though they didn't speak English (but it never hurts to brush up on your Portuguese as a way to honor the space 😉). It was DEFINITELY a workout so be prepared to move. I would absolutely come back!

Great Workout for Family of Four

Our family of 4 had a wonderful time trying a beginner class. None of us are dancers or have dance experience, but we felt welcomed and encouraged to engage. We learned some of the basic steps while also watching a more advanced class. It was a great workout!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We are so happy that your family of 4 felt welcomed and encouraged, even as beginners. That's exactly what we want - a fun, inclusive and great workout for everyone! It was a pleasure to have you with us at the first Capoeira school in Brasil. We hope to see you all again on your next trip to Salvador! Axé!

A unique capoeira experience in Salvador

Wonderful and exciting experience. We trained with the Master . Even as a beginner I managed to do some crazy stuff and have lots of fun. Definitely an experience to remember.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review! We're so happy you had such a memorable experience training with Mestre Bamba. It's always inspiring to see beginners discover that capoeira is about much more than experience—it's about courage, learning, and enjoying the journey. We're glad you had fun, challenged yourself, and even surprised yourself with what you could do! Thank you for sharing this special moment with us. We hope to see you again in Salvador for more capoeira, music, and Brazilian culture. You're always welcome at Associação de Capoeira Mestre Bimba!

a great overview of capoeira fundamentals

My wife and I wanted to experience taking a capoeira class during our week-long vacation and this did not dissappoint. While walking around the historic Pelourinho district we came across this school, were encouraged to come inside to see the place, and we signed up to take a class shortly thereafter. All of this was very easy. Once signed up, the organization communicated with us efficiently, making it clear what the expectations were and also explaining any logistics. The class started on time with an overview of the school, its history, and the style of capoeira. Shortly thereafter, they didn't waste any time guiding us through numerous movements. The instructor was firm yet attentive, providing correction to many of us beginners as we worked through the various combinations. The instructor's feedback was clear and explanations were very helpful. It was a warm atmosphere, with participants encouraging each other. We were all able to learn a lot of the core movements. We were then provided an opportunity tonapply them on one another towards the end of the class. It also ended up being a great workout. Capoeira cannot be easily described, so if you are interested I strongly recommend just taking this class to experience it for yourself.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this incredible review! We're delighted that a simple walk through Pelourinho led you to the home of Mestre Bimba and that you decided to join us for a Capoeira class. It was a pleasure to welcome you both. Our goal is to provide more than just a lesson—we want every participant to understand the history, philosophy, and foundations of Capoeira Regional while enjoying a supportive and authentic training environment. We're especially happy to hear that our instructor's guidance, the welcoming atmosphere, and the opportunity to put the movements into practice made the experience both enjoyable and rewarding. Thank you for recommending our class to future visitors. We hope to welcome you and your wife back to ACMB whenever you're in Salvador for another training session. Axé! ❤️🇧🇷

    Solo Female At Class

It was a fantastic class! I learned I absolutely love capoeira and it is also very hard, I had such a great time and recommend everyone to try! There is incredible history of resistência at the school

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your lovely review! It was a pleasure having you train with us. We're especially happy to hear that you discovered a love for Capoeira—it is challenging, but that's part of what makes the journey so rewarding. Thank you for appreciating the history of resistance and the cultural heritage preserved in our school. Sharing Capoeira in its authentic form, in a welcoming environment where everyone—including solo travelers—feels comfortable and included, is something we truly value. We hope this was just the beginning of your Capoeira journey, and we'd love to welcome you back whenever you're in Salvador.
