An amazing experience
This is a really beautiful and unique way to experience Peru with all its lovely people, traditions, food, unbelievable landscapes and, at the end, Machu Picchu. I couldn’t imagine a better way than this hike. Right from the beginning I had a really friendly and helpful contact for all my questions. The company is really well organised and works with locals in the country and supports them in many ways. This is one of the most important things you should look out for. Because all the tours/companies have a certain standard, you will not be disappointed in this regard. But you have to make sure that the locals are the ones who benefit the most from it. And that’s exactly the point with IncaTrekkers! I went for the Lares Trek on my own because no one wanted to join. Big mistake from all the other travelers. The Lares Trek is, in my opinion, the best way to see something of the country and to go to Machu Picchu. I thought it would be really tough to do this hike – it is challenging, but not impossible. We hiked the first two days without seeing any other tourists; it was just us (cook, guide, llamas, horses and two herders) walking in this amazing and ever-changing landscape like on another planet, with Florentino playing a flute to motivate the llamas – and us. This is the way the Incas did it too, and it created an amazing vibe. The food was incredible! There was more than enough, it was delicious, the cook is amazing. I cannot imagine how he can prepare so many dishes at the same time in a little tent above 4000 m. We got multiple courses and snacks along the way. I felt comfortable from the very first minute, like hiking with family. Juvenal is an excellent guide in so many ways. He is super sympathetic, he has a lot of knowledge about traditions, culture, plants and wildlife – especially birds. He is working for a brighter future for Peru, so that people see more in Peru than just Machu Picchu. I can only say he is living and loving the beauty of Peru, and his energy will inspire you. I liked the way he talked to every person we met on our way, always interested and respectful. We had an amazing afternoon in Pachapampa, a small town where we were welcomed by a local family with flowers and smiles on their faces. We sat together, talked a lot and enjoyed the time watching the mountains and got an impression of how hard it is to weave. While the ladies weaved next to us, I played with a little local girl until Juvenal showed me the community and told me something about their development. The third day was long, but really nice. We went by car and then took the beautiful train ride through the valley next to the Urubamba River. Of course, the city where we got on the train was crowded, because everyone wants to see the world wonder. But Juvenal did an amazing job so it was absolutely stress-free for me. I was happy that we got off the train to walk the short Inca Trail and be in a totally different but equally amazing nature again. Here the vegetation is rainforest with orchids all along the way and many, many plants. Juvenal managed all the time slots really well so we didn’t see as many people as I expected. We passed the base camp for the classic Inca Trail, a place where no one really wants to be, I think: 500 people, totally crowded, with poor hygiene and dirty bathrooms, all waiting the next morning in one queue at the checkpoint to walk on. I was so happy just to pass through and be on the path with only a few people in the middle of the day. The Inti Point is amazing – take your time there, that’s what you achieved in the last few days. After seeing the beautiful Inca site we went down for a night to Aguas Calientes, to sleep well before getting up early one more time for a guided tour in Machu Picchu, seeing all the buildings up close and building your own theories about this mystical place. I absolutely recommend this trip, this guide and this company! Thanks for this amazing experience, Mattea

Exemplary views, unparalleled, cultural, immersion, and trip of a lifetime
This was the trip of a lifetime. Our guide, JUVENAL, is unparalleled in his knowledge of the local plants and birds. In addition, he is able to explain thoroughly the history of the Inca Trail, the culture of the Quechua people, and everything you will ever want to know about Machu Picchu. I cannot recommend him and his outfit highly enough

How far in advance should I book Cultural Multi Day Tour from Lares to Machu Pichu with Llamas?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. +

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cusco?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cusco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
