2. USS Constitution

   See the USS Constitution (OLD Ironsides) is a three-masted wooden-hulled heavy frigate of the United States Navy. She is the world's oldest ship still afloat. She was launched in 1797. She was built at Edmund Hartt's shipyard in the North End of Boston, Massachusetts. The shipyard was located near the location of the present Coast Guard base. Her first duties were to provide protection for American merchant shipping during the Quasi-War with France (1798 - 1801) and to defeat the Barbary pirates in the First Barbary War. (1801-1805) We will stop to allow you to take photos with the attraction in the background.

3. Bunker Hill Monument

The Bunker Hill Monument is a monument erected at the site of the Battle of Bunker Hill in Boston, Massachusetts, which was among the first major battles between the Red Coats and Patriots in the American Revolutionary War.    Mystic River- The name “Mystic” comes from the term Native American tribes used for the river — “Missi-Tuk,” which means “great tidal river.” The British landed on the Banks of the Mystic during the battle of bunker hill, Home of the Encore Casino, Famous Movie “Mystic River” won multiple Awards. We will travel in the end Waters where the river meets Boston Harbor

5. USS Cassin Young

   USS Cassin Young (DD-793) Launched in 1943 she is a Fletcher-class destroyer of the U.S. Navy, named for Captain Cassin Young, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He was KIA in the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal in the fall of 1942. After serving in World War II, including the Battle of Leyte Gulf and the Battle of Okinawa, Cassin Young was decommissioned, but was later reactivated during the Korean War and continued in active service until 1960. She is preserved today as a memorial ship. We will cruise by slowly and pause for photos.

   Charles River- English explorer John Smith named in 1614 to honor Prince Charles (later King Charles) The Charles is renowned as a rowing and sculling river, with many boathouses and the three-mile “Head of the Charles” Regatta, the world's largest long-distance rowing regatta. Harvard University, Brandeis University, Boston University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology are all located on the banks of “The Charles. We will be traveling in the end waters where the Charles meets Boston Harbor

9. Charlestown Navy Yard

   Seen from the the Harbor, The Boston Navy Yard - originally called the Charlestown Navy Yard and later Boston Naval Shipyard, was one of the oldest shipbuilding facilities in the United States Navy. It was established in 1801 as part of the establishment of the new U.S. Department of the Navy in 1798. After 175 years of military service, it was decommissioned as a naval installation 1974.We will be traveling adjacent to its docks.

10. Castle Island

    Castle Island - Built in 1632 and connected to the mainland in 1928 Site of internment of captured Native Americans who were sold into the Atlantic slave trade The fort helped protect Boston from British attack during the War of 1812. Edgar Allan Poe’s Army service was there, inspiring his short story "The Cask of Amontillado" After the fort was destroyed in 1775, Lieutenant Paul Revere was put in charge of rebuilding it. The rebuilt fort was named Fort Independence. The fort also served as a state prison. We will run along its Shoreline

11. Deer Island

    Seen from the the Harbor, Deer Island - In 1634 it was named Deer Island, as it was noted as a refuge for Deer escaping Wolves on the Mainland. It has been connected to the mainland since a Hurricane IN 1938. In 1896, the facility became a prison. The Deer Island House of Correction existed until 1991. Deer Island is now the second largest sewage treatment plant in the United States serving the Boston area, it generates its own electricity and pelletizes waste which is used as fertilizer. It will be in the distance but clearly seen on a clear day

12. Nantucket Lightship/LV-112

    The Nantucket - Commissioned in 1936 Stationed on Nantucket Shoals, she was the last serving lightship. She is currently undergoing renovations as a floating museum, but is open to the public. We will closely pass by her

13. Boston Light

    Boston Light is a lighthouse located on Little Brewster Island in outer Boston Harbor, Massachusetts. The first lighthouse to be built on the site dates back to 1716, and was the first lighthouse to be built in what is now the United States. The current lighthouse dates from 1783, is the second oldest working lighthouse in the United States (after Sandy Hook Lighthouse in New Jersey), and is the only lighthouse to still be actively staffed by the United States Coast Guard, being automated in 1998 though there is still a keeper acting as tour guide. The structure was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964. We will Cruise from the Inner harbor to Boston Light, weaving through the harbor islands. We can Fish along the way if you would like and also haul out lobster traps located right next to Boston Light.
