A good afternoon but not a must do if in siem reap.

We did a private tour with 2 jeeps for our group of 4. It was an interesting afternoon seeing the paddy fields and traditional farming on the way to the floating and stilted villages of kampong khleang on Tonle Sap. Beware though… the company say Siem Reap is 17km from Tonle Sap but this is as the crow flies… it’s actually twice this and by dirt tracks and being in a traditional army jeep with very little suspension it’s a long uncomfortable ride! Also it’s perhaps not the best way in wet season to travel (open sided jeeps and boats when the heavens open offer no protection from the weather). Our tour guide was also quite quiet, having had an excellent tour guide around the temples of Angkor wat the day before, this guide didn’t offer much information.

Great way to get a feel for everyday life

We absolutely loved this day tour! Our guide, Seyha, was phenomenal and spoke excellent English. We even got to meet his mom and eat Cambodian pancakes from her roadside stall. The whole itinerary and structure of the day was very well thought out. It was a nice mixture of walking through markets, biking around a village, driving on dusty roads in the jeep (you will get dirty!), and being driven by boat on Tonle Sap lake. The jeep was a great way to travel through the countryside, since the lack of a barrier between you and the locals makes it easier to say hello and wave to the very friendly people around you. I would recommend this tour and our guide Seyha 100%.

What an amazing day!

We did this jeep tour in the middle of our week in Cambodia with extended family - low season (now called green season!). What an amazing day! We had 2 jeeps out for the day and the drivers were excellent with plenty of information and english nearly as good as our guide! This tour includes a stop at a local village market where you can buy and try local foods and see how the locals eat, there is a bicycle ride through the back roads as well and a stop at Kampong Khleang, a local fishing village (high up on stilts) located on an inlet to the enormous lake Tongle Sap, where we had a delicious lunch and jumped on a local boat (plenty available at this time of year!) to check out the locals fishing - and see a floating village. Even saw a procession of monks heading through the village. This is a must do tour if you want to experience the real Cambodia (Kampuchia) and so different to the ancient majesty of the temples.

The colorful tour

I was on the tour wirh my family. The tour was incredible. We asked so many questions and learn many things. Everyone is very kind, the driver and tour guide was very kind and pationate about thei worl. You could see it. I did a lot of picture which reminds me all the stories/history that the guide inform us. It was a bit rainy but they were all prepaired. It was pretty fun to be on the jeep as we could me more in contact with the people outside. They would say "hello"! When we pass by, it reminds me my country. So welcoming. I had really an amazing trip and can only suggest people to go there if they want to have a closer view on how it is to live in this incredible float village. Ps: we also did a bycyle tour where we could see the market and have closer contacts with the people in the side country. Loves it.

Countryside & Floating Village by Cambodiajeep: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Siem Reap.

How much does Countryside & Floating Village by Cambodiajeep cost?

+

Prices start at $65 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Siem Reap usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Countryside & Floating Village by Cambodiajeep take?

+

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Siem Reap is not rushed.

Is Countryside & Floating Village by Cambodiajeep worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Siem Reap, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Countryside & Floating Village by Cambodiajeep?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Countryside & Floating Village by Cambodiajeep suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Countryside & Floating Village by Cambodiajeep?

+

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Siem Reap can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Siem Reap and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Countryside & Floating Village by Cambodiajeep start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Siem Reap within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Siem Reap?

+

On Outty we rank every Siem Reap experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Small-Group and Guide tours, Angkor Wat full Day 'Small Group with sunset & Tour Guide, Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Tour with Guide from Siem Reap. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Siem Reap?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Siem Reap?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
