About this experience

On this tour we are going to visit the Girona coast, christened 100 years ago as the Costa Brava. The name is due to its unique rocky, rugged and cut shape coastline, composed of small coves surrounded by pine forests and lapped by crystal water. In addition to the characteristic relief of its coast, the Costa Brava is also famous for its lovely towns. They were formerly small fishermen towns, full of houses with white-washed walls as well as medieval towns with stone buildings and narrow streets; to this day, they still retain their unique charm. Throughout the day, we will reveal the most representative and emblematic towns of unparalleled beauty on the Costa Brava. As we explore these towns, we will also discover their diverse landscapes and contrasts. Their world acclaimed beaches will take your breath away.

  1. Calella de Palafrugell

We will take the motorway and about 10:15am we are going to arrive in Calella de Palafrugell, a small fisherman’s village that still retains today the traditional appearance of the past. It is a village of great beauty in both architecture and landscape. The town, splashed with small bays, becomes a fusion of land and sea that is an incomparable setting. We will have free time to explore the village, enjoy the scenery and for sure, take great photographs.

  2. Llafranc

About 11:15am, we will start walking along Camino de Ronda, which is going to lead us to the neighborhood town of Llafranc. We will hike about 30 minutes, suitable for all ages, easy terrain for everyone. The “Camino de Ronda” borders all the Costa Brava and was used to control the maritime smuggling. Today, thanks to this, you can discover beautiful spots that wouldn’t be otherwise accessible. Llafranc is also a small, elegant and captivating seaside town, with all the delightfulness of the towns on this coast. You will have free time for lunch and taste the typical fishermen’s cuisine of this area. If you wish, you may also go for a swim in the Mediterranean Sea at its splendid beach.

  3. Begur

Our next visit will be Begur, a town with elegant mansions located beneath an old castle and famous for its “Indian Houses”. The so-called “Indians” were the town’s inhabitants who immigrated to America in the 18th century; they made a fortune and upon their retirement, they returned and built these elegant mansions. As you stroll along its streets, you will discover this uniquely beautiful architecture which features a unique blend of Mediterranean and Caribbean styles.

  4. Peratallada

Peratallada, declared a Historical-Artistic Site and Cultural Asset of National Interest, is one of the most outstanding examples of the country’s medieval architecture. You will be amazed by its peculiar location on top of a rock, as well as the spectacular moat excavated inside it, which surrounds the town. Upon arrival, we will take a stroll through its narrow winding streets, discover its original castle-palace, its exceptional fortification system and its stone houses whose streets have been virtually unchanged by the passage of time.

    60 minutes here

  5. Pals

The last stop will be Pals, declared Cultural Asset of National Interest, a town located inland and on top of a hill. The village is built entirely in an integrated medieval site. At the top, there is a cylindrical tower from the 12th century, which is visible from far away. It has an excellent terrace that offers stunning views of the Costa Brava and surroundings. Walking through the cobbled streets, you will feel like you have gone back in time. Take time to appreciate the round arches, facades with pointed window arches, stone balconies, all perfectly restored. At 18:00 the tour is finished and we go back to Barcelona, where we shall arrive at around 20:00.

Buyer beware. Tour cancelled day before trip. Have backup plan ready.

Unfortunately this tour was cancelled day before trip. Unable to secure another tour to the area as I was only visiting Barcelona for a few days. Very disappointed.

Response from the operator: Dear Nieves, We are very sorry that you were unable to participate in our activity due to its cancellation the day before. We received an emergency warning related to a possible rise in the river that passes through some of the towns we visit, due to heavy rainfall in the area. The risk of flooding was very high. As this was considered a case of force majeure, the tour was cancelled to guarantee the safety of all participants. An immediate refund was issued. We regret that situations like these may be difficult for some participants to understand and that we are penalized for acting preventively. Fortunately, these situations are completely exceptional.

The Ultimate tour of Costa Brava all in one easy day.

This tour had everything to explore and experience Costa Brava - scenic bus tour, three different old world fishing/resort towns, a hike along the coast between the towns. A boat ride along the rugged coast with underwater viewing, and lastly stopping at a medieval town. Lots of free time to explore each area and choice of lunch places on the seaside. The guides were friendly, fun and personable and knowledgeable about the history and areas. They quickly answered my questions via WhatsApp before the tour. It was a fantastic outing thoroughly enjoyed the day. I would highly recommend this tour company to get an overall view of Costa Brava.

Costa Brava Typical Towns Full Day Tour from Barcelona: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Barcelona.

How much does Costa Brava Typical Towns Full Day Tour from Barcelona cost?

+

Prices start at $75 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Barcelona usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Costa Brava Typical Towns Full Day Tour from Barcelona take?

+

Plan for about 11.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Barcelona is not rushed.

Is Costa Brava Typical Towns Full Day Tour from Barcelona worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 66 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Barcelona, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Costa Brava Typical Towns Full Day Tour from Barcelona?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Costa Brava Typical Towns Full Day Tour from Barcelona suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 11.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Costa Brava Typical Towns Full Day Tour from Barcelona?

+

Around 23 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Barcelona can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Barcelona and add a light layer if any part of the 11.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Costa Brava Typical Towns Full Day Tour from Barcelona start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Barcelona within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Barcelona?

+

Barcelona's Gaudí sites are capacity-limited and the official timed tickets go first, so most of the market is resellers with a guide attached. We weight those heavily on whether the guide is an architecture specialist. Beyond Gaudí, the tapas crawls in Gràcia and the Montserrat day trips carry the highest rankings in the city. On Outty we rank every Barcelona experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Gràcia Tapas and Vermouth Crawl, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel & Cliff Jump from Barcelona, Girona & Dali Museum Small Group Tour with Pick-up from Barcelona. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Barcelona?

+

May, June, September and October. Sagrada Família light is best mid-morning. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Barcelona?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
