About this experience

My name is Francesco Borsari, and cooking has always been my language, connecting me to the land and cherished memories. I invite you to a special experience in an ancient olive mill by Lake Trasimeno, in the heart of Umbria. Surrounded by stunning views and the scent of freshly pressed olive oil, we’ll prepare traditional Umbrian dishes using local, organic ingredients. We’ll roll out fresh pasta, create savory sauces, and craft timeless recipes passed down through generations. You’ll taste the finest olive oils from the mill and enjoy a guided tour, learning about the pressing process and history. At the end, we’ll share the meal we’ve created, savoring each bite and celebrating good food, laughter, and being together. It’s more than just a cooking class – it’s an unforgettable journey into the heart of Umbria, by Lake Trasimeno.

Overpriced

The operator was very friendly and nice but it was way overpriced. There was no real dessert and coffee / tea included. There were also no expensive ingredients used.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your opinion. We are pleased that you appreciated the friendliness of our operator. We would like to clarify that cantucci are a traditional Tuscan and Umbrian dessert and are served as a traditional sweet at the end of the tasting. Regarding the price, all the details of the experience, including the services provided and the costs, are clearly indicated before booking. If the price did not meet your expectations, you could have chosen an alternative experience at a lower cost. Finally, coffee was served as soon as you arrived at the olive mill, at your specific request. We believe it is important to clarify these points in order to provide accurate information about the experience.

Amazing experience for a group!

Francesco was wonderful! He was engaging and the food was delicious. We even had a dietary restriction (no dairy) and he was able to accommodate! A truly lovely experience and would recommend to anyone!

Francesco was fantastic,...

Francesco was fantastic, great host and Greta conversation while preparing the meal. Also, the area around the olive mill is quaint and worth a visit and walking around after the class. Highly recommend!

Fantastic Class and Fantastic Chef!

The four of us had an amazing class! Francesco is extremely patient, funny, kind and such an excellent chef. He taught us all about olives, the history of olive oil processing and how growers share their products with the world today. Francesco taught us how to make the most delicious ravioli just the way his Nonna taught him. We highly recommend this experience. We are so happy we did it!

Cooking Class in a Historical Oil Mill near Trasimeno Lake: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Perugia.

How much does Cooking Class in a Historical Oil Mill near Trasimeno Lake cost?

+

Prices start at $65 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Perugia usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Cooking Class in a Historical Oil Mill near Trasimeno Lake take?

+

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Perugia is not rushed.

Is Cooking Class in a Historical Oil Mill near Trasimeno Lake worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Perugia, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Cooking Class in a Historical Oil Mill near Trasimeno Lake?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Cooking Class in a Historical Oil Mill near Trasimeno Lake suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Cooking Class in a Historical Oil Mill near Trasimeno Lake?

+

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Perugia can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Perugia and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Cooking Class in a Historical Oil Mill near Trasimeno Lake start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Perugia within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Perugia?

+

On Outty we rank every Perugia experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Taste Perugia: The Original Perugia Food Tour (All-Inclusive), Taste Umbria: Full Meal Walking Tour in Perugia by Do Eat Better, Organic cooking class with a sommelier in an Olive and wine farm. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Perugia?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Perugia?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
