French night in St. Augustine
The French cooking class ended up being the main event of our five day trip to St Augustine. Chef Alex made us feel very welcome. He provided great instruction, including why things were to be done a particular way, throughout the whole 3 hr class. We really learned a lot about food prep, cooking the main dish and how to provide the flavor. The food was delicious. I would recommend this class to my friends and others if they are in the St Augustine area.

Alex was great fun and prepared for our class. His stories and experiences made the night go fast and my wife’s birthday was a success.

Risotto class leaves a bitter taste
Chef required my mom and I to pay an additional $146 (beyond our prepaid $210 multi-course class purchased through Viator) before he let us leave his house. When asked about this surprise, undefined "upgrade", Chef Alex explained he doesn't get the full revenue from Viator. Shakedown Chef has great cooking skills, but his business, communication and people skills could use an upgrade.
Response from the operator: You paid for a basic class to Viator, the class you participated in was an upgrade 2 class. I would like to add that the menu I gave you before we started the class did list the class as an upgrade 2 with pricing. You did have a champagne cocktail, the extra entrée (the beet risotto) and the dessert (the crème Brûlée). The class and dinner were 3.5 hours, NOT 2.5 hours. You accepted and consumed those extra food, drink and services. Sorry if it did come as a surprise but I did ask you to get in touch and send me your personal contact to send you our infos and menu, you never did. You had my personal phone number if you had any questions or concerns and choose to not use it. I am sorry you are not fully satisfied with our service, to make it up I will offer a FREE upgrade for 2 guests on any future class (offer valid until May 31st).

Why this scores 48
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Cooking Class/Dinner W/ Celebrity French Chef OR Private Chef Ser: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for St Augustine.
How much does Cooking Class/Dinner W/ Celebrity French Chef OR Private Chef Ser cost?
+
Prices start at $115 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in St Augustine usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cooking Class/Dinner W/ Celebrity French Chef OR Private Chef Ser take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in St Augustine is not rushed.
Is Cooking Class/Dinner W/ Celebrity French Chef OR Private Chef Ser worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 48 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in St Augustine, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cooking Class/Dinner W/ Celebrity French Chef OR Private Chef Ser?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Cooking Class/Dinner W/ Celebrity French Chef OR Private Chef Ser suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Cooking Class/Dinner W/ Celebrity French Chef OR Private Chef Ser?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in St Augustine can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in St Augustine and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cooking Class/Dinner W/ Celebrity French Chef OR Private Chef Ser start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central St Augustine within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in St Augustine?
+
St Augustine is walkable history: Castillo de San Marcos, Spanish quarter walking tours, trolley loops, lighthouse climbs and some of the best-attended ghost tours in the country. Guide storytelling quality is the main variable. On Outty we rank every St Augustine experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Medieval Torture Museum with Ghost Hunting and Tiny Art Gallery, St. Augustine's Wine, Cocktail and Food Experience, Dolphin and Wildlife Adventure of St. Augustine. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit St Augustine?
+
February to May and September to November. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in St Augustine?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
