    Undiscovered gem

We made a stop in Tomar to see the Convent of Christ on our way from Porto to Lisbon and are so glad we did! It is a UNESCO world heritage site and former headquarters of the knights Templar. The building is stunning and in very good shape. Parts are under renovation but it is still worth the visit. Every bit as stunning as the monastery in Lisbon. Be sure to stop and visit

Wonderful tour of Tomar, Batalha, and Alcobaca monasteries.

We had a fantastic time going on the Tomar, Batalha, and Alcobaca monastery tour. Our tour guide, Sandra, was extremely knowledgeable about the history of each monastery and could explain all the small details of the architecture and artwork we saw that day. She was such a wonderful person, very engaging with us, and made our experience truly fun and memorable.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Mateo, for your wonderful review! We’re truly delighted to hear that you had such a fantastic time exploring Tomar, Batalha, and Alcobaça. Sandra was so happy to know that her passion for history and attention to architectural and artistic details helped bring each monastery to life for you. Making these places both engaging and easy to understand is something she really cares about. We’re especially glad to hear that her warm and engaging approach made the day not only informative but also fun and memorable. Thank you again for your kind words. We hope to welcome you back for another experience in Portugal!

No Map Tours did not disappoint.

We booked 3 separate tours, our guides were Sandra and Luis. Sandra for the Tomar, Batalha and Obidos tour and the Lisbon tour as well. Luis was our guide for Sintra. Both were really fun and extremely knowledgeable. We saw and learned so much more than we could have on our own. I HIGHLY recommend No Map Tours.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the fantastic review! We’re thrilled to hear that all three of your tours were such great experiences. Sandra and Luis will be delighted to know their knowledge, enthusiasm, and fun approach helped you see and learn so much throughout your time with us. We truly appreciate your high recommendation — it means a lot!

    Exceptional Monasteries Tour

Our Monasteries Tour through No Map Tours was exceptional, especially thanks to our guide Sandra. She was incredibly knowledgeable about each of the three sites we visited and made sure to point out the pertinent and most interesting architectural details. I would highly recommend booking this private tour to maximize sightseeing output when in Lisbon.

Response from the operator: Thank you for the fantastic review Arvind! We're over the moon to know you had an exceptional monasteries tour with Sandra. And thank you for recommending this tour, it's one of Sandra's favorites. Please come visit Portugal again!

    Monasteries History lesson!

Sandra was an excellent guide! Her knowledge of history of the monasteries was superb. I had done some research prior to this tour. But she went well beyond what I thought I knew. The mode of transport was top notch. Muito obrigado! Mario

Convent of Christ, Batalha and Alcobaça Monasteries Tour from Lisbon: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.

How much does Convent of Christ, Batalha and Alcobaça Monasteries Tour from Lisbon cost?

    +

Prices start at $180 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Convent of Christ, Batalha and Alcobaça Monasteries Tour from Lisbon take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.

Is Convent of Christ, Batalha and Alcobaça Monasteries Tour from Lisbon worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 27 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Convent of Christ, Batalha and Alcobaça Monasteries Tour from Lisbon?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Convent of Christ, Batalha and Alcobaça Monasteries Tour from Lisbon suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Convent of Christ, Batalha and Alcobaça Monasteries Tour from Lisbon?

    +

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Convent of Christ, Batalha and Alcobaça Monasteries Tour from Lisbon start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Lisbon?

    +

On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lisbon?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lisbon?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
