Worst tour I've ever done

We were so disappointed with our private tour of Comuna 13. It seems very gimmicky, our guide didn't seem to notice that we had kids, and he just talked right over them when they needed us. He was very young and inexperienced. I'm surprised the company gave us this guide for our private tour because we paid more than the "free" tours. We couldn't wait for the tour to end. They also expected tips at many stops, which were kind of weird stops, including stores. We felt we had already paid enough money. We were also not shown a single mural! And, when I reached out to the company to ask for a certificate, they never responded. I then shared our bad experience with them, and they still didn't reach out. What a bummer, seems like others had good experiences but our expensive tour was terrible.

Response from the operator: Hola como estás muy buenos días. +57 3508776275

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU BOOK WITH THEM!

Like most travelers, I spent a lot of time researching Comuna 13 tours before booking. I compared companies, prices, and reviews and finally chose this one because it was more expensive and their website made it sound professional, transparent, and high quality. That was a mistake. Their website clearly advertises a tour of approximately 3 hours. What we actually got was not even 2 hours. Not close to three. Not “around.” Barely two. For 95,000 COP per person, that alone feels misleading and disrespectful to customers. Instead of a deep or meaningful experience, we were rushed through the most overcrowded, touristy Instagram spots of Comuna 13. There was no sense of discovery, no extra value compared to cheaper street tours. It felt mass-produced and superficial, just at a higher price. Then come the “included” items that suddenly aren’t included. The website says a popsicle is included — it wasn’t. We paid for it ourselves. We also had to pay for the bus from the metro station to the comuna. Yes, it’s a short ride, but when you charge premium prices, nickel-and-diming your guests over basic logistics is embarrassing. Add to that being asked for money during the tour for performances. I understand supporting local artists, but again, when nothing is truly included, the advertised price becomes very misleading. My boyfriend and I are backpacking Colombia on a tight budget and choose tours carefully. This felt less like a cultural experience and more like being upsold at every step while receiving less than what was promised. But the worst part is the company’s response. After the tour, I politely asked for a PARTIAL refund, not a full one, simply because the tour time and inclusions didn’t match what they advertise. Instead of listening, they gaslighted me, denied what’s written on their own website, and tried to rewrite my experience. No accountability. No professionalism. Just defensive behavior and excuses. So now you’re not only paying for a disappointing tour, you’re also risking being ignored or manipulated if something goes wrong. This company relies on marketing and pricing to look premium, but the reality is closer to a cheap street tour with extra costs and poor customer service. Save your money. There are plenty of Comuna 13 tours in Medellín. Don’t get fooled like we did.

Horrible

I can’t recommend to do this tour with them. Our guide Johan was more on the phone than telling us about the place. He was hurrying us all the time, except when we were brought to the local shops and expected to buy something. We didn’t get to picture places, we saw so little of the place that we ended up going there again by ourselves and found out more than with the guide. You also just sit through the cable cart but wheb we did it again, we exited to take pictures and really indulge in the views. So waste of our money, useless tour and I’ve done very many tours around the world. Save your money and go with other company, or just walk around the communa by yourselves, it’s very touristy and safe.

Response from the operator: Hola. Estamos verificando que hicieran el tour con Nosotros, pero NO los hemos visto en nuestros registros de reservas.

Commune 13 : Tour Commune 13. Graffiti Tour Medellin (Graffitour): questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Medellín.

How much does Commune 13 : Tour Commune 13. Graffiti Tour Medellin (Graffitour) cost?

+

Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Medellín usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Commune 13 : Tour Commune 13. Graffiti Tour Medellin (Graffitour) take?

+

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Medellín is not rushed.

Is Commune 13 : Tour Commune 13. Graffiti Tour Medellin (Graffitour) worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 81 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 389 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Medellín, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Commune 13 : Tour Commune 13. Graffiti Tour Medellin (Graffitour)?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Commune 13 : Tour Commune 13. Graffiti Tour Medellin (Graffitour) suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 4. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 2.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Commune 13 : Tour Commune 13. Graffiti Tour Medellin (Graffitour)?

+

Around 136 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Medellín can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Medellín and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Commune 13 : Tour Commune 13. Graffiti Tour Medellin (Graffitour) start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Medellín within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Medellín?

+

On Outty we rank every Medellín experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Guatapé Tour: Piedra del Peñol with Boat Tour, Breakfast, Lunch, Half-Day Coffee Tour: From the Seed to the Cup, Farm & roastery, Private Guatape & Coffee Farm Tour: The Two Must do in One Day. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Medellín?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Medellín?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
