Great day of culture, with a little adventure

Saúl as a terrific guide, from pre-trip communication and planning through the day's activities. There was a separate driver for the van. Saúl was a very knowledgeable guide at the Coba archaeological site. He taught us how to say hello and thank you in the local Mayan language. He took us to a house/restaurant in a small village where we learned to make tortillas before eating a delicious lunch. We saw spider monkeys. And he showed us the brave way to jump from a high ledge into a cenote! A great day!

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience with us! We're thrilled to hear that you had a great day of culture and adventure on our Coba Adventure & Sabrosura tour. Saúl sounds like an incredible guide, from the planning stage to the day's activities. It's fantastic that he provided such valuable insights at the Coba archaeological site and even taught you some Mayan language and culture along the way. Learning to make tortillas in a small village and enjoying a delicious lunch sounds like an authentic and memorable experience. And spotting spider monkeys must have been a real treat! Jumping into a cenote is definitely an adventurous highlight! We're glad Saúl showed you the brave way to do it. Thank you for choosing our tour, and we hope to see you again soon for more cultural adventures!

    AMAZING!

Luis and Saul were THE BEST! We had a great day with the guys enjoying the sites at Coba, local restaurant, and the Mayan community where we had great adventures rappelling into the cenote, zip lining and canoeing! It was our own private tour, so laid back and full of fun adventures at the same time. The guys were easy to chat with and we will definitely do another adventure with them in the future!

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your amazing experience with us and for leaving such a positive review on Tripadvisor for our Coba Adventure & Sabrosura tour. We are thrilled to hear that Luis and Saul were the highlight of your day and that you had a fantastic time exploring Coba, visiting a local restaurant, and immersing yourself in the Mayan community. We take pride in providing unique and exciting experiences for our guests, and we're delighted that we could offer you a personalized, private tour that was both laid back and full of fun adventures. The finest trip with a magical Cenote

The finest private we could ever get, easily passing excellence. This is a small business, not some tour where you are just a ticket calling 1-800 numbers. Saul and Luis were in control, always looking for ways to make your time with them better. And clearly they care about the local communities. Easy contact before to vary a couple of details. Very friendly and funny. As for this particular trip - Coba is great to see - real sense of history and does not feel like the big toursit Chichen Itza site. Perfect alternative and without the crowds and groups of 20 all over the place. You get to see a large site that is barely developed so you can see how the city was, but also how the jungle has taken over (need to rent bike or pay for a bike guy to drive you - or you can walk about a mile). Then the jungle part was fun with the short canoe and zip lines. But, the HIGHLIGT of the trip was repelling into this beautiful Cenote, again with no crowds. (Actually, we were the only ones there - but I doubt it is ever crowed.) You drop in by rope through a hole in the roof (scary to look at it, easy enough to drop in). Then take your time floating in a tube - magical. One of the most spectacular things we have even seen. Note, doing these tours privately lets you do this at whatever pace you want. Drive was comfortable and if you want to do it, then it is unavoidable 2 hour drive from Cancun, as all the sites are. Lunch was good and authentic.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience of our Coba Adventure & Sabrosura tour on Viator. We are thrilled to hear that you had the finest private tour and that our team, Saul and Luis, went above and beyond to ensure you had an excellent time. We pride ourselves on being a small business that focuses on personalized experiences rather than treating guests as mere ticket numbers. It warms our hearts to know that Saul and Luis took great care of you and continuously sought ways to enhance your time with them. We genuinely care about the local communities and strive to make a positive impact. We're delighted that you enjoyed visiting Coba, which offers a unique sense of history without the large crowds of other tourist sites. Exploring the city, seeing the jungle's reclamation, and the exciting activities like canoeing and zip lining all added to the adventure. However, it's fantastic to hear that the highlight of the trip was repelling into the beautiful, uncrowded cenote. Floating in a tube and experiencing its magic must have been truly spectacular. We appreciate your note about the flexibility and pace of privately organized tours, allowing you to tailor the experience to your preferences. We understand that the drive from Cancun can be unavoidable but strive to make it as comfortable as possible. Thank you for mentioning the good and authentic lunch, as we believe that the culinary experience is an essential part of immersing yourself in the local culture. Once again, we sincerely appreciate your kind words and recommendation. It was our pleasure to provide you with such a memorable and magical experience. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for more incredible adventures.

    Best Group Tour Ever!!

Saul was an amazing tour guide for our group of 12 friends. He is very knowledgeable and knows the history of the area. He took us to Coba and seemed to know everyone around. Our group explored the area by bicycle, bicycle limo, and walking. Our group asked many questions and Saul always seemed to know the answer. The tour van was newer, reliable, and had great air conditioning. Saul was sociable and fun. He took us to a great place for lunch where we had authentic Coba cuisine. We felt very safe with Saul and I recommend any tour with him. I will scheduling again with him the next time we come back to Cancun!!

    +

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

    +

On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cancun?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cancun?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
