Qorikancha
Qoricancha, or the “Golden Court”, was the most important site dedicated to the cult of the sun god. The walls were once covered with gold sheets. On this site the convent is built, which today bears the same name, with polished stone structures. It has a remarkable Renaissance-style cover and a unique Baroque tower, as well as an impressive collection of paintings from the Cusco school.

Sacsayhuaman
The name Saqsayhuaman means "satisfied hawk" in Quechua. This fortress was built to protect the city of Cusco from Eastern invaders and is an excellent example of Inca military architecture. Built with huge granite blocks, some of which reach up to 5 meters high and weigh up to 350 tons, it consists of three large terraces bordered by colossal stone walls that extend up to 300 meters long. Because of its proximity to Cusco, it also served as a quarry for some of the colonial constructions of the city.

Very unorganized, Lack of communication, not optimal if you don’t speak Spanish
I have used Viator a lot in different places around the world. This is the first time I’ve had issues. At first I was impressed that they messaged me with information I needed for the tour right away. But the next day my friend and I got to the place we were supposed to meet up with the guide and our problems began. First the guy showed up late and didn’t let us know he would be late. Then he asked if I was Danielson and I said yes. He didn’t explain anything he just put my friend and me on a bus packed with people. Pretty soon I realized we were the only non Hispanic people on the bus. I don’t have a problem with that but I wasn’t for sure the guy even put us on the right bus since the tour was supposed to be in English and Spanish but we were the only one who spoke English. And the guy that put us on the bus never got on the bus himself for me to ask. Since I speak Spanish I asked some people next to us if they were doing the Cusco city tour just so I could make sure it was the right one. When they said yes it made me feel a little better but I was still not sure what was going on. The tour guide that was on the bus only spoke in Spanish. I understood him but my poor friend doesnt speak Spanish so she wasn’t able to follow what he was saying even though the tour was supposed to be in English too. He then came around and asked me for our tickets. When I showed him my Viator ticket he said I had the wrong ticket and I was supposed to have a ticket for the 4 places we were going to. I told him that I got the ticket on Viator and that’s all I was told I needed in addition to 30 soles to get into in place which we had. He wasn’t happy that I had the wrong things. I told him I wasn’t the on that put us on the bus! I showed him my conversation that I had on what’s app from his company and what they told me I would need and that I had those things. Long story short, he ended up calling the phone number on the app and that guy told me I needed to buy extra tickets for us both that was never mentioned previously nor did they tell where to buy them. After all that mess and us finally getting the right tickets we did the tour. The places were interesting to see but was a total bummer of a trip for my friend. Since she was the only one that didn’t speak Spanish she felt awkward having the tour guide say everything in English for just her and make everyone else wait for just her to hear it (which was long!) before we moved on so she just told him to skip doing it in English. She never got to hear all the explanation for what we saw. Overall, it was absolutely terrible communication, not organized, and such a disappointment. This is the only tour I’ve done on Viator that we have had issues with and left disappointed.

A beautiful South American city
Wandering around the streets of Cusco was a unique experience , the high altitude and the steep streets are a damper but with adequate care and a slow pace they can be tackled . The mix of the ancient cultures and the colonial times have left an indelible mark on the life culture and architecture of the place . The people are nice but rarely communicate outside their own languages Spanish , Aymara and Quechua , English is rarely understood .There are good places to eat on the way and the tour is worth the effort .

Cusco archaeological sites
This was a great introduction to the archaeological sites around Cusco, our guide was knowledgeable, led us around the sites efficiently avoiding long ticket lines, and allowed plenty of time to walk around and take photos. I especially appreciate the option at Saqsayhuaman to choose whether to return on the bus or spend as much time as we wanted then walk back on our own. I chose to spend over 2 hours exploring the stunning site taking my time and had small picnic lunch that I recommend packing if you do this. Finally, I really enjoyed the roughly 30 minute mostly down hill walk through some picturesque residential streets back to the city center.

I wouldn't recommend this...
I wouldn't recommend this experience to an English speaker. The guide was difficult to understand and the tour was rushed due to the guide needing to explain everything in two languages at each stop.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.
How much does City Tour in the city of Cusco 1/2 Day cost?

Prices start at $24 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does City Tour in the city of Cusco 1/2 Day take?
+
Plan for about 5.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.
Is City Tour in the city of Cusco 1/2 Day worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 121 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule City Tour in the city of Cusco 1/2 Day?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is City Tour in the city of Cusco 1/2 Day suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book City Tour in the city of Cusco 1/2 Day?
+
Around 42 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 5.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does City Tour in the city of Cusco 1/2 Day start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cusco?
+
On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Full-Day Humantay Lake Trek (Meals Included), Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cusco?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cusco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
