Terrible
I had an absolutely terrible experience with this company’s Christmas Eve dinner cruise. A friend of mine booked three tickets, including one for me, and we arrived at the gate at 6:30 PM to join the queue. Boarding was scheduled for 6:45 PM. Our tickets were scanned, IDs checked, and we were given bracelets—just like everyone else in the queue. Since there was no announcement or signage to indicate otherwise, we assumed the crowd was for the same event and that there would be multiple boats for the party. Boarding began at 6:45 PM, and we were still stuck in the middle of the queue with others wearing the same bracelets as us. To our shock, the boat left without us. When we asked the staff for assistance, they rudely informed us that there were two separate boats and that the one including dinner had already departed. How were we supposed to know this? There was no way to tell the queues apart, no clear communication, and no announcements made. The organization was an absolute mess, and the staff were rude and completely unhelpful. I ended up losing all my money for a service I never received. I would never book with this company again and risk such an awful experience. I highly recommend avoiding this company at all costs if you value your money and your time. I will be sharing this review widely to warn others.
Response from the operator: Hi Giulia, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and please accept our sincere apologies for the delay in responding. We’re genuinely sorry to hear about what happened on Christmas Eve — we completely understand how upsetting it must have been to miss the cruise after going through check-in and lining up in what appeared to be the correct area. Unfortunately, the wharf is shared by multiple vessels and operators, and we’ve since learned there was some confusion on the night due to crowding and misdirection from external staff. That said, we absolutely take responsibility for ensuring clearer communication and signage on our part, and we regret that this wasn’t in place when it mattered most. We’d really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly and make things right. Please feel free to reach out to us at info@vagabond.com.au or on (02) 9660 0388 at your convenience. Warm regards, Michel & the Vagabond Team

Why this scores 39
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Christmas Eve Dinner Cruise: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sydney.
How much does Christmas Eve Dinner Cruise cost?
+
Prices start at $95 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sydney usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Christmas Eve Dinner Cruise take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sydney is not rushed.
Is Christmas Eve Dinner Cruise worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 39 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (1/5 across 1 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Sydney, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Christmas Eve Dinner Cruise?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Christmas Eve Dinner Cruise suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Christmas Eve Dinner Cruise?
+
Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sydney can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sydney and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Christmas Eve Dinner Cruise start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sydney within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Sydney?
+
On Outty we rank every Sydney experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include WILD Wombat and Kangaroo Day Tour, All Inclusive, Depart Syd: Blue Mountains Best All Inclusive with Local Guide, Blue Mountain Small Group Tour All Inclusive. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Sydney?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Sydney?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
