About this experience

For those who prefer to explore untouched terrain, we have created the Ultimate Choquequirao Trek. The trek to Choquekiraw navigates both the region's lush cloud forests and snowcapped Andean mountains. While Machu Picchu gets close to 5000 visitors a day, Choquequirao may see less than a dozen, making this place a truly unique and quite retreat. Choquekiraw has been nicknamed the 'Twin Sister of Machu Picchu' as the master Inca builders have anchored another huge city, made entirely of stone, in an impossible location overlooking one of the deepest canyons of Peru. Enjoy the peace and serenity of this majestic place while you still can: Choquequirao has been tipped to soon become one of Peru’s hottest tourist destinations HIGHLIGHTS Complimentary airport Pick up and drop off PACHAMANCA demonstration Enjoy our hot showers after a long day of the hike Learn and interact with our native Tour Guides 2% of the price you pay goes to support our Social Projects

Beautiful memories in Choquequirao

This was an amazing experience. It was me, my husband and sister on the hike. Our guide was fantastic and made sure it was a beautiful experience for us. He really went above and beyond to make sure that we had a memorable and safe experience. The food was absolutely fantastic. We couldn't believe how good it was and so much! The canyon is absolutely spectacular, you are surrounded by snow capped moutains every day and the stars at night were brighter than I had ever seen them before.

Response from the operator: Dear C4139NSjaym, Thank you for sharing your beautiful Choquequirao Trek experience. We are delighted to know that you, your husband, and your sister enjoyed this special adventure surrounded by amazing landscapes, snow-capped mountains, and unforgettable nights under the stars. We truly appreciate your kind words about your guide and the care provided throughout the trek, as well as your comments about the delicious meals. We will gladly share your message with the team. Thank you for choosing TreXperience. We hope to welcome you back to Peru for another memorable journey. Best regards, Josselyn

Great 2-Week TreXperience Peru Trip!

We had a great experience in a 2-week booked tour with TreXperience. Tour included hotels in Lima, Nazca, Cusco and Ollantaytambo, trek to Choquequirao, & Monchu Picchu. Nazca lines flight was wonderful, and tour guide Celeste SO friendly. Trips to Paracas - Ballestas Islands - Huacachina (birds, penguins, sand boarding/dune buggy ride was a blast, her English & friendliness wonderful. Our tour guide on the Sacred Valley tour was Daniel, another great Guide. Our trek was the highlight of the trip, & TreXperience has this down! Some of our group got sick & honestly were not up for the fairly tough 3,000 to 4500 ft of daily climbs & decents. Guide David (excellent English) helped with the tummy problems & modified the hike to fit our abilities, resulting in a perfect experience for us. He coordinated for horses when some climbs were too hard for our ladies. His love for his job, wildlife, & culture shined through every day!! Food...wow! Chef Estebon was amazing, these guys worked SO hard to make trek food wonderful & there was a LOT. We saw 3 condors & a Giant Hummingbird thanks to him & the horsemen. We did 2 days at Monchu Picchu, & TreXperience got us great times & circuits, including No 3, which enabled us to climb the Gringo Killer overlooking the city. We sometimes got concerned if the guidance for the next day would be in time but it always was, & the office folks ultimately came through just fine...just trust in their system and it'll work out. We used WhatsApp & they took care of any questions we had.

Response from the operator: Dear Jaymayfly55, Thank you for sharing such a detailed review of your 2-week TreXperience journey through Peru. We are thrilled to know that you enjoyed the different destinations, from Nazca and Paracas to the Sacred Valley, Choquequirao, and Machu Picchu. We are especially happy to hear that David, Esteban, the horsemen, and the entire trekking team helped make your Choquequirao adventure a memorable experience by adapting the route, supporting the group, and sharing their passion for nature and culture. We will gladly share your kind words with them. Thank you for trusting TreXperience with your Peru adventure. We hope to welcome you back again someday. Best regards, Josselyn

Trip of a lifetime

This was an adventure of a lifetime. The views of the mountains and the stars were incredible. Our guide – David was very informative, funny, patient, and adaptable. He even had the chief cook a birthday cake in a skillet. He made all parts of the trip memorable. We ended up having to adjust the trek based on our physical abilities. David worked everything out and always with a smile. The food on this trek was amazing. Our chef cooked three course meals for breakfast lunch and dinner. I’ve never been hiking and came back gaining weight. All in all it was an incredible experience with an incrediable team. I would highly recommend.

Response from the operator: Dear KathrynI26, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are truly happy to know that your Choquequirao Trek was a trip of a lifetime and that you enjoyed the amazing mountain views, starry nights, and delicious meals prepared by our chef. We greatly appreciate your kind words about David. His patience, knowledge, sense of humor, and ability to adapt to the group’s needs are very valuable during this type of adventure. We are also happy that the team could make your journey even more special with memorable moments like the birthday cake surprise. Thank you for recommending TreXperience. We hope to welcome you back to Peru for another unforgettable adventure. Best regards, Josselyn

Choquequirao and Macchu Picchu

We actually had 7 days with Choquequirao and Macchu Picchu, but I don't see that option in the drop-down. There were a few issues with registration and charging consistently among the people in our group, but it was more or less worked out and the value for what it cost was excellent. From the guides to the cooks to the horsemen to the drivers, everyone made a solid effort to make our experience smooth. The sights were unbelievable and the knowledge of our guides to educate us on the history and the archeology was superb.

Response from the operator: Dear colinbN1423KT, Thank you for your honest review! We are very happy to know that your Choquequirao and Machu Picchu trek was a great experience and that you found the value excellent. We appreciate your comments about the registration and payment details, and we are glad they were mostly resolved. It is also wonderful to hear that our guides, cooks, horsemen, and drivers worked hard to make the trip smooth and memorable. Thank you for choosing TreXperience. TreXperience

loved this trekking experience!

This trek was an amazing experience. The mountains are so demanding, yet so rewarding at the same time. The views, the trails, and the Inca ruins are all amazing. Going beyond that, the guides, porters, and chefs were all amazing people, delivering an unforgettable experience, and in-depth knowledge and history. The chefs prepared amazing meals, especially considering how remote we were and the limited equipment they had to work with. The whole team works very hard all day everyday! We had Tony Montana as our primary guide, and really enjoyed his energy and excitement to share his culture with us. He knows the mountains and kept us on track while making realtime decisions to help a member of our group that was struggling. I never questioned Tony's abilities or decisions while on the trails. He's the best guide on Peru! Also a shout out the Yovan, who was our secondary guide. He was excellent, and could be a lead guide himself. If you have the option to choose your guide, you can't go wrong with Tony or Yovan!

Response from the operator: Dear walterq963, Thank you for your wonderful review! We are very happy you loved the Choquequirao Trek and enjoyed the mountains, views, trails, and Inca ruins. It is great to know that Tony, Yovan, the chefs, porters, and the whole team made your experience unforgettable. Thank you for choosing TreXperience. TreXperience

Choquequirao Trek 5 days and 4 nights: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.

How much does Choquequirao Trek 5 days and 4 nights cost?

+

Prices start at $850 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Choquequirao Trek 5 days and 4 nights take?

+

Plan for about 120 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.

Is Choquequirao Trek 5 days and 4 nights worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 38 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Choquequirao Trek 5 days and 4 nights?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Choquequirao Trek 5 days and 4 nights suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 3. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 120-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Choquequirao Trek 5 days and 4 nights?

+

Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 120-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Choquequirao Trek 5 days and 4 nights start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cusco?

+

On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Peruvian Cooking Class Cocktails and Market Tour in Cusco, Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cusco?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cusco?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
