A Rushed, Over-Priced Experience
The estimated times advertised for this excursion were in fact very inaccurate during our trip. We spent two whole hours at the first cenote, which cut into our time in Chichen Itza itself -- we were only there for a very rushed hour, which was only enough time to do a very rushed tour of the place. The stop in Valladolid is also nothing more than an excuse for the bus drivers to guide you into a very specific souvenir shop where they receive a kick-back on anything you purchase (I know this because my fiance purchased an overpriced bottle of tequila, and upon boarding the bus the driver asked if we bought it here, we said yes, and he ran back towards the shop to collect his cut). Finally, if you book with TripAdvisor you're overpaying -- you can get the same excursion at a discount by purchasing directly in Tulum, which we know because some of our bus-mates paid only $90 USD vs our $133 USD. We brought up our complaints with Encuentro, the company listed as the operator on TripAdvisor, who said they only facilitate the booking and have nothing to do with the actual tour, dismissing us outright. Despite all of this, we thought it was wonderful to experience Chichen Itza and a few beautiful cenotes -- but that's in spite of this company's excursion, not because of it.

Rocky start, but good overall
We had a rocky start to our day. We would not have known which bus to get onto if we had not tracked down one of the tour guides. Once we got going though we had a good time. While it is a tight schedule we did not feel too rushed for time. Our favourite part of the day was the Cenotes we visited.

Chichen Itza and Cenotes tour
A little disorganized at the beginning… they need to tell people what is going on and how meeting your driver will work. But after we were on our way it was a great experience, good tour, and they took very good care of is along the way. Chichen Itza and cenotes were fantastic.

Very good experience
Excision perfectly managed. One bus picked us up directly at the airbnb then another took us to oxman to enjoy the note and lunch. Then chitchen itza around 12:30 so not too many people (but 1h30 a little short) and the guide arranged a visit in French. The day ends on ik kil (less well than the 1st and a lot of people) and then a very fast passage to valadolid and in a place popular with tourists. Return at 7.30pm to the airbnb. Nothing to say. Very well organized.
