An unforgettable trip discovering the Mayan culture at the hands of a great enthusiast and expert.
An unforgettable getaway in the company of Axl, as intense as it was pleasant, as surprising as it was educational. Early in the morning, Axl and the driver picked us up from our hotel in Cancun, where they dropped us off at nightfall, full of knowledge and sensations. During the trips, our guide took the opportunity to provide an introduction to the Mayan world, its chronology, the milestones of its history, its presence on the Yucatan Peninsula, its struggles and its scientific achievements (its calendar and its numerical system), and its language. The visit to Chichen Itza with its Sacred Cenote, the Plaza of a Thousand Columns, and the magnificent Pyramid of Kukulcan with its legend and secrets, and the Ball Court (where what you were playing for was your life), was, above all, an immersion into the Mayan universe. Thanks to Axl's explanations, we achieved a visualization of those beings, their cosmogony, their engineering and enormous construction capacity, their relationship with the supra and infra circle (forming a continuum), their beliefs, and their social norms. From there, we headed toward the Uayma Ha Cenote, far from the tumultuous tourist routes, to enjoy a refreshing swim alone (if not for the fish) in fresh water loaded with minerals, overflown by birds into whose habitat we had entered without asking for permission. An unrepeatable bodily sensation that will always stay with us. We enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Mayan women at a roadside cantina on the way to Valladolid, where we visited two colonial buildings: the Cathedral of San Gervasio (we greeted the Virgin of Carmen on her big day), and the Municipal Palace, where Axl once again displayed a history lesson, this time starting from the large-scale canvases and meticulous pictorial chronicle that adorns its galleries. At the Main Park we saw a street performance with fire, feathers, and a Mayan ball. A recommended adventure for all ages and preferences, since Axl probes tastes and adapts. An excellent guide, with environmental, artistic, and heritage sensitivity.

Wonderful private tours for 3 senior women
We had 3 customized tours with Jaguar Journey that made our trip to the Yucatan unforgettable. We are 3 senior women who are experienced international travelers. Our tours met our expectations to be well informed of historical and current cultures. We visited Chichén Itzá, Coba, Tulum and swam in 3 unique cenotes. In Cancun we learned about Mayan culture at the Museum. Our guide, Ariann, treated us like family. Her knowledge and enthusiasm were infectious. We were well cared for and felt safe at all times.

Awesome Excursion
Axel was our tour guide for this excursion and he was absolutely amazing! He made sure we were comfortable and provided drinks and snacks for us for the ride, which was 2-1/2 hours each way. When we arrived at our excursion, he gave us a history of all the pyramids. In the middle of the tour, my husband and I were telling him we just renewed our vows and he ended up purchasing an authentic Maya souvenir for us, which was very thoughtful! We also visited the cenote and got to swim in it. That was a cool experience! He took us to a couple of restaurants where we had breakfast and lunch, amazing Mexican food! He took us to a flea market area and we got to shop around and purchase items. When we arrive back to the van, he surprised my husband and I with a happy anniversary balloon and a rose, which I thought was very sweet! This was one of the best excursions I have been on in a long time. Axel is very knowledgeable and did a wonderful job! I highly recommend him for any tour guides if you plan on visiting Cancun, Mexico! He’s the best!

Magical Journey
Amazing personal experience! Axel was our guide, who is a budding archeologicalist. He was FULL of fascinating information on Mayan culture and history. Understanding the history and how it related to what we were seeing made all the difference. Chichen Itza was fascinating. Lunch in Izamal was local cuisine and delicious. We had the restaurant all to ourselves. And later we got to climb a pyramid as well! The ATV ride was easy and fun. We got to drive up a pyramid as well! The Cenote was the best experience. It was simply magical swimming into a cavern! I highly recommend this tour company.

Awesome Excursion!
First off, we applaude our guides: Axle and Raymundo. We typically take guided tours when we go on vacation. These two were awesome. They delivered a great expereice for me and my newly married bride. The tours were breathtaking but you can only get the most out of it with guides that are knowledgeable. These two did not disappoint on any level. The tour took about 13 hours from start to finish. It was an experience that we will hold onto forever. Guided tours are a must in our eyes. Whether you do it in a group or private depending on your budget. If your on the fence I strongly suggest to do the private tour. Absolutely a stunning experience and couldn't have been better without our two guides. Off to the next adventure guys, take care!!!
