    Chena Hot Springs Adventure

We had a great time on our Chena Deep Adventure Tour! We were expecting a shuttle ride out to the hot springs, and then a few hours exploring the attractions. This trip was so much more! Our guide on this expedition was Kendall. He was an absolute bottomless pit of information on Alaska, astronomy, native vegetation, animals (we saw a yearling moose cow right on the side of the road), National Parks, and the pipeline. At the hot springs, we went in the Ice Museum, and drank Appletinis from carved ice glasses. We then had an informational tour of the dog kennels and learned a lot about the Iditarod dog race. We also got to interact with their wonderful sled dogs. We then went to the hot springs to relax away our travel soreness. While the hot springs were nice, the real value of this trip was Kendall. He provided so much more than we were expecting. He even invited us to come back that night to watch a meteor shower, but it was way past our east coast bedtime. We would definitely tour again with AK Bucket List Tours. Gina took care of the logistics, and Kendall took great care of us on our trip. Highly recommended!

    Amazing

Gina was absolutely incredible! You can truly feel how much she loves Alaska, and that passion shines through in every part of the tour. She wasn't just a driver she was a storyteller, photographer, and local expert who made everyone feel welcome. She went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience possible, adjusting the day to our interests while sharing fascinating facts and hidden gems along the way. The Chena Day Adventure was unforgettable, and it was 100% because of Gina's attention to detail, kindness, and genuine care for her guests. If you're looking for a guide who treats you like family and creates memories you'll never forget, book with AK Bucket List Tours. You won't regret it!

    Chena Hot Springs Tour

My daughter and I flew to Alaska to visit the University of Alaska Fairbanks, but we also wanted to experience as much of the surrounding area as possible. Booking this tour ended up being one of the highlights of our trip! Gina was absolutely amazing: kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about Alaska. Throughout the day she shared fascinating information about the area's history, culture, wildlife, geology, and even the science behind the landscape and plants. You could tell she truly loves what she does. On our drive to Chena Hot Springs, we were lucky enough to spot three moose! Gina made sure everyone stayed safe while also giving us plenty of time to enjoy the experience. She even helped other travelers make safe choices, who had stopped along the road, despite them not being part of our tour. We visited the Aurora Ice Museum, where we watched artists creating incredible ice sculptures and explored the beautifully carved exhibits - if 21+ don't skip the yummy appletini served in an ice glass! Next, we toured the kennels and learned about the history and evolution of dog mushing and Alaskan Huskies. Getting to meet and cuddle the puppies and sled dogs was a definite highlight! After a delicious early dinner, we spent time relaxing in the Chena Hot Springs before heading back to Fairbanks. As a bonus, we spotted two more moose on the return trip! From the scenery to the wildlife to the conversations along the way, the entire day was unforgettable. If you're visiting Fairbanks and want to experience some of Alaska's natural beauty while learning from someone who truly knows and loves the area, I can't recommend Gina and AK Bucket List Tours enough.

Chena Hot Springs Day Adventure: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Fairbanks.

How much does Chena Hot Springs Day Adventure cost?

    +

Prices start at $280 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Fairbanks usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Chena Hot Springs Day Adventure take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Fairbanks is not rushed.

Is Chena Hot Springs Day Adventure worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Fairbanks, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Chena Hot Springs Day Adventure?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Chena Hot Springs Day Adventure suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Chena Hot Springs Day Adventure?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Fairbanks can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Fairbanks and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Chena Hot Springs Day Adventure start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Fairbanks within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Fairbanks?

    +

Fairbanks is the aurora capital of interior Alaska: heated viewing lodges, late-night chase tours, Arctic Circle day drives up the Dalton Highway, dog sledding and summer riverboat cruises. On Outty we rank every Fairbanks experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Northern Lights - Aurora with FREE Photos - Arctic Night Tours, Dog Sledding and Mushing Experience in North Pole, Fairbanks Ice Fishing Expedition in a Heated Cabin with Fish Cookout. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Fairbanks?

    +

Late August to April for aurora, June to August for midnight-sun river trips. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Fairbanks?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
