    Raw and inspiring

Chef Duyen was the fountain of knowledge She met us at our hotel at 3.50 am in the pouring rain and took us to the market Full of life and very hardworking people, she explained where produce came from, where it goes and everything in between. We explored and sampled the freshest of Vietnamese specialties As we had got up early for this my body wasn’t ready to eat all of the delicious foods on offer and i hope that this didn’t offend but there was a lot of food on offer Pho, eggs, tofu, sweet treats, coffee, banmi and more It was definitely an eye opener and as a vegetarian I appreciated the check ins at various points in the market. Highly recommend this tour to give you an appreciation of authentic Vietnam

Best experience to start our holiday in Vietnam

We spent our first morning in Hanoi with Chef Duyen on the 9am - 1pm Street Food tour and it was the best way to start our holiday in Vietnam. From Ban Cha to Pho to egg coffee we had such a great time eating and tasting a way through the streets. We had such a great experience we then ended up booking the 4am - 8am Market tour for the following morning - a true highlight of our time in Vietnam. Highly recommend Chef Duyen's tours.

    Great food/market tour!

We had an amazing experience with Ms Duyen. She is very knowledgeable and has all the insights one needs to understand the dynamics of Hanoi’s food markets. Further, her kind and entertaining way of showing us around made it a very pleasant tour. She made us feel as if we were part of the local community. The food stops were all very delicious and places that we would have never discovered otherwise. One of the best experiences we’ve ever had on a trip and would definitely do the cooking class with Ms Duyen if we had enough time. Lastly, getting up early was definitely worth it as one will not be able to experience the ”real deal” during the day - the market is most active from midnight until 6am in the morning.

Response from the operator: Dear taraV621O,Thank you so much for your glowing 5-star review! I am so happy to hear that you had an amazing time exploring the "real deal" of Hanoi’s dawn markets with me.I also noticed you shared some beautiful photos of my cooking class. We took this cooking...

We took this cooking class our first day in Vietnam. It was a great introduction to Vietnamese food and one of the highlights of our trip. Chef Duyen met us at our hotel, then we visited her local market, purchasing a few items for our dinner. So different from shopping at our local grocery store! Chef Duyen introduced us to some unfamiliar ingredients as we chopped and cooked. Who knew you could eat banana flowers. Afterwards we enjoyed a delicious meal with her and her family.

Chef Duyen's Home Cooking Classes and Market Tours: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hanoi.

How much does Chef Duyen's Home Cooking Classes and Market Tours cost?

    +

Prices start at $50 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hanoi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Chef Duyen's Home Cooking Classes and Market Tours take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hanoi is not rushed.

Is Chef Duyen's Home Cooking Classes and Market Tours worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hanoi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Chef Duyen's Home Cooking Classes and Market Tours?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Chef Duyen's Home Cooking Classes and Market Tours suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Chef Duyen's Home Cooking Classes and Market Tours?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hanoi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hanoi and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Chef Duyen's Home Cooking Classes and Market Tours start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hanoi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Hanoi?

    +

On Outty we rank every Hanoi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ninh Binh Day Trip from Hanoi with Tam Coc or Trang An & Mua Cave, Ha Giang Loop Tour 4 Days 3 Nights with Ha Giang Vision Tour, Halong Bay Day Tour With Titop Island, Cave, Kayak & Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Hanoi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Hanoi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
