Outstanding tour. Do it.

Wow. Chris is one of the best guides we have ever had. He is passionate and has heaps of knowledge of his city. He can talk about anything. He is a people person. The tour is great. You get to go to places tourists don't go. The food is fresh and tasty. You should also ask Chris about the cooking class he does. We did that as well. We learnt so much about Hanoi and it's culture from Chris. Thank you Chris. This tour is highly recommend.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! It was an absolute pleasure showing you around Hanoi and sharing its food, culture, and stories. I'm delighted you enjoyed both the food tour and the cooking class. Meeting wonderful guests like you makes this work incredibly rewarding. I hope to welcome you back to Vietnam someday. Safe travels and thank you again for your support!

Chris was an amazing guide and we had a great time. He is extremely knowledgeable about the city and country and has an amazing ability to tell stories. The food vendors he took us to were amazing, and he shared insights on each meal as well that really brings it to life. A truly great experience!

Response from the operator: Thank you, Mark! Really appreciate your kind words. I had a great time exploring Hanoi with you too. Food always tastes better with good stories and good company. Hope your journey continues with more amazing flavors — see you again someday in Vietnam!

Fantastic walking tour of Hanoi

I did this walking tour in Hanoi with my parents and it was fantastic !! From the moment the tour started, our tour guide Chris made us feel completely welcome with his warmth, knowledge, and enthusiasm for the city. He was patient, kind, incredibly informative, and made every part of the experience feel engaging and personal. You could tell he genuinely cared about making sure everyone was enjoying themselves. We’ve done many walking tours over the years in different cities around the world, and this was honestly one of the best. Chris had the perfect balance of storytelling, history, humour, and local insight, and we came away feeling like we understood Hanoi on a much deeper level. The egg coffee demonstration was also such a fun and memorable touch! What really stood out was how thoughtful he was throughout the tour - even fanning us in the Hanoi heat to keep us comfortable! It’s little things like that that made the experience feel so genuine and special. We enjoyed the tour so much that we actually wanted to book another one with Chris the following day, but he was already booked for another tour. Thank you Chris for giving us such a fantastic start to Hanoi. We absolutely loved the tour and would recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for joining the tour with your parents! It was a pleasure meeting all of you and sharing Hanoi together. Guests like you are the reason I love doing this. Every group brings different perspectives, stories, and energy, and I always learn something too. I'm really happy you enjoyed your time in Hanoi and that we had the chance to explore the city together. Hopefully our paths cross again someday — and next time, we'll make sure to fit in another tour 😊 Wishing you and your family safe travels and many more wonderful adventures ahead!

10/10 tour

This was the best tour experience we had while travelling Vietnam. We did the walking tour with Chris. Chris is an excellent tour guide, so full of knowledge, so personable and thoughtful with every step. This tour not only an insight into Hanoi’s history but its folklore, culture and food. We learnt a lot and got to experience an egg coffee making workshop and try some local fruit. We had a great time under the care of Chris and I would recommend ever to do this tour when in Hanoi.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words. It was a real pleasure spending the morning with you and sharing a little piece of Hanoi together. What I enjoy most about guiding isn't just talking about history or food, but meeting wonderful people from around the world and seeing the city through their eyes as well. I'm glad you enjoyed your time here, and I hope the memories, stories, and maybe a few egg coffee skills stay with you long after Vietnam. Wishing you safe travels and many great adventures ahead. You're always welcome back in Hanoi!

Wonderful food and walking tour

We did two tours with Chris, one a walking tour and the other a nighttime food tour. Chris was very informative and friendly and gave us some tips and recommendations to help make our stay here more special. We would highly recommend these tours with Chris.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your kind words. It was such a pleasure for me to have a great time with you to share Hanoi's cuisine and culture. Hopefully we can reunite again in near future.

Chef-Led Hanoi Street Food Experience: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hanoi.

How much does Chef-Led Hanoi Street Food Experience cost?

+

Prices start at $28 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hanoi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Chef-Led Hanoi Street Food Experience take?

+

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hanoi is not rushed.

Is Chef-Led Hanoi Street Food Experience worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 25 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hanoi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Chef-Led Hanoi Street Food Experience?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Chef-Led Hanoi Street Food Experience suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 6. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 2.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Chef-Led Hanoi Street Food Experience?

+

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hanoi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hanoi and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Chef-Led Hanoi Street Food Experience start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hanoi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Hanoi?

+

On Outty we rank every Hanoi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ninh Binh Day Trip from Hanoi with Tam Coc or Trang An & Mua Cave, Ha Giang Loop Tour 4 Days 3 Nights with Ha Giang Vision Tour, Halong Bay Day Tour With Titop Island, Cave, Kayak & Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Hanoi?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Hanoi?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
